Myar Curran, a 25-year-old care worker, has spoken out for the first time on television after being removed from Peter Kay’s Manchester show. 

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, she shared her disappointment and claimed she felt humiliated by the comedian’s comments.

The controversy erupted after Curran was ejected from Kay’s performance at the AO Arena in Manchester. 

She had shouted, “We love you, Peter,” only to be singled out by the comedian, who responded by calling her “Lisa Riley” as security escorted her out. 

The comparison to the Emmerdale actress left Curran feeling targeted, and she later accused Kay of making fun of her weight.

A Shock for a Longtime Fan

Curran, who had traveled from Scotland with her family and friends, had been eagerly anticipating the show, especially since it was meant to be a special event in memory of her late mother. However, the experience turned sour when she was removed from the venue in front of a packed crowd of 23,000.

During her Good Morning Britain interview, Curran insisted that she had not been disruptive or aggressive, explaining that she was merely expressing her admiration for Kay. “I didn’t mean to cause any harm,” she said. “I feel like what I said was not abusive or aggressive—it wasn’t anti-social, and I wasn’t drunk.”

She described feeling hurt and embarrassed by Kay’s reaction, especially when the audience responded with laughter. “It was like he was trying to get the crowd against me,” she said. “It just wasn’t nice.”

Peter Kay Defends His Actions

Kay, 51, has since addressed the controversy, defending his decision to remove disruptive audience members from his show. He stated that hecklers had been causing disturbances from the start of the performance and that their behavior had been affecting the experience for other attendees.

“In Manchester on February 8th, I had two hecklers disrupting from the very start,” Kay wrote on Instagram. “I did my best to address the situation and made light of it, as any comedian would, but unfortunately, their interruptions continued.”

According to Kay, he attempted to ignore the disruptions, but they persisted into the second half of the show. Eventually, he asked the audience whether they were being disturbed by the noise, and when they agreed, he instructed security to remove the individuals.

Curran, however, maintains that she was not part of the original heckling incident, which involved two men repeatedly shouting phrases such as “garlic bread.” She claims that she was removed unfairly after expressing enthusiasm for the comedian.

Lisa Riley Responds to the Incident

The situation took another turn when Lisa Riley herself indirectly addressed the controversy. The actress, who has been open about her weight loss journey, shared a cryptic Instagram post following the incident. She posted a quote about seeing the good in life rather than focusing on negativity, seemingly responding to Kay’s remarks.

Riley has not directly commented on being mentioned during the show, but her post resonated with many fans who viewed Kay’s remark as an unnecessary jibe at Curran’s appearance.

A Divisive Incident

The incident has sparked debate among comedy fans, with some defending Kay’s handling of the situation while others argue that he went too far. While many comedians engage with hecklers in their performances, some feel that Kay’s comments about Curran crossed a line.

Curran has made it clear that she does not expect an apology from Kay but has vowed never to watch his work again. “It was just a rubbish situation,” she said. “My whole family was disgusted by it.”

As discussions continue online, the incident raises questions about how comedians should handle audience interactions—and whether there are limits to what should be considered acceptable in the name of comedy.
