Get Me Out of Here!, but there’s one person he truly hopes to win over—Carol Vorderman.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter made his admiration for the former Countdown star clear when he selected a pillow featuring her image as his luxury item in the jungle. 

Months have passed since his playful declaration of affection, but Melvin insists that the door isn’t closed on his dream date with Carol. 

In fact, he’s convinced that patience is key.

Setting the Record Straight

While attending the TV Choice Awards, Melvin addressed speculation that Carol had ignored his attempts to reach out. Speaking to The Mirror, he firmly denied the rumors that she had “ghosted” him on Instagram.

“She didn’t ghost me! I don’t know where this came from—she just hasn’t read my message yet!” he laughed, dismissing the idea that she was avoiding him. “There’s this rumor going around that she ghosted me, but that’s not true.”

Despite not having received a reply, Melvin remains optimistic. He had nothing but praise for Carol, describing her as a “wonderful lady” who is incredibly dedicated to her work and commitments.

“She’s out here making things happen, looking after people, and being amazing,” he gushed. “She hasn’t got time to check her DMs every five seconds! But when she does see it, I’m sure she’ll read it—when she’s ready.”

A Special Message from Carol

While Carol may not have responded to Melvin’s direct message yet, she did acknowledge him while he was still in the jungle. During an appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Unpacked, the television personality sent him a supportive voice note.

“Melvin, I’m blushing redder than that leather dress you have on your pillowcase,” she teased in the message. “But I’ll be rooting for you all the way through—see you on the other side.”

Additionally, while Melvin was competing in the jungle, Carol sent him a message via Instagram. However, since his social media accounts were being managed by friends and family at the time, he only saw it after the show ended.

“When I finally checked my DMs, I saw a message from Vorders herself,” he revealed. “She had written, ‘Please give him my best. He’s done so well.’”

His team even interacted with Carol, confirming that she was replying to messages and showing support. Encouraged by her kind words, Melvin later sent her a follow-up message, playfully suggesting she give him a call. However, he admitted with a chuckle that she still hadn’t read it.

“It’s been three weeks,” he joked. “But I’m staying hopeful.”

Keeping His Options Open

While his admiration for Carol is clear, Melvin has always been private about his romantic life. That said, he has expressed openness to finding love when the time is right. In a past YouTube interview, he shared his perspective on relationships.

“Dating is hard,” he admitted. “But I think it’s important to stay open-minded. Your perfect match could be anywhere—you just have to go with the flow and not try to control love.”

For now, Melvin is playing the long game with Carol. Whether she eventually responds to his message or not, he remains positive, proving that persistence—and a sense of humor—might just pay off.
