Peter Kay ‘humiliated me’ fumes ‘Lisa Riley heckler’ in bombshell TV interview

A woman removed from Peter Kay’s live show has spoken out publicly about the humiliating experience, vowing never to attend one of his performances again.

Myar Curran, who was escorted out of Kay’s Manchester show at the AO Arena on February 8, appeared on Good Morning Britain to share her side of the story.

Myar Curran’s Experience at the Show

During her interview on ITV, Myar expressed her disbelief over what happened, insisting she did not behave aggressively or disruptively.

“I didn’t mean to cause any harm. I was just showing my love as he kicked someone out, but he obviously didn’t like it,” she explained.

Myar stated that she did not use offensive language, nor was she drunk or acting in an anti-social manner.

However, despite her insistence that she meant no harm, Kay still had her removed from the venue.

“I feel like what I said was not abusive or aggressive—it wasn’t anti-social, and I wasn’t drunk. His reaction was just a bit over the top,” she added.

Despite the public fallout, Myar confirmed that she is not seeking an apology from the comedian but admitted that she can no longer enjoy his work.

Why Was Myar Removed from the Show?

Peter Kay addressed the incident in an Instagram statement, explaining why he had Myar and another audience member ejected. According to the comedian, two hecklers had been disrupting the show from the very start, making it difficult for him to continue performing.

“I did my best to address the situation and made light of it, as any comedian would, but unfortunately, their interruptions continued,” Kay explained.

The comedian initially tried to ignore the disturbances, hoping they would stop, but by the second half of the show, he felt he had no choice but to take further action.

“When the disruption persisted, I asked the audience around them if they were being bothered by the noise. They all shouted ‘yes,’ and when I asked for a show of hands, at least forty people raised theirs. At that point, I had no choice but to take action,” he wrote.

The Lisa Riley Comparison Controversy

One of the key aspects of the controversy was Kay’s comparison of Myar to actress Lisa Riley, best known for playing Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale. During the performance, Kay commented on Myar’s resemblance to Riley, which she later described as bullying behavior.

Although Kay acknowledged that Myar did look like Riley, he dismissed the idea that it was meant as an insult.

“The lady who was escorted out did bear a striking resemblance to Lisa Riley, though I don’t see how that’s an insult,” he stated.

Myar, however, took offense to the comparison and criticized Kay for making the remark.

Peter Kay’s Rare Ejection of Audience Members

Peter Kay also highlighted that this was a highly unusual action for him to take.

“This was only the second and third time I’ve had to ask someone to leave during my 114 shows over the past three years of this tour,” he revealed.

Kay emphasized that he never wants to eject anyone but that repeated disruptions make it impossible to continue performing.

The situation reportedly escalated after another audience member repeatedly shouted “garlic bread”—a reference to one of Kay’s famous comedy routines. That individual was removed first, and when Myar responded by shouting, “We love you, Peter!” she was also escorted out of the venue.

Public Reaction and Debate

The incident has sparked debate among fans, with some supporting Kay’s decision to remove disruptive audience members, while others sympathize with Myar’s frustration.

Kay’s supporters argue that comedians need a certain level of control over their shows, especially in large venues where disruptions can impact the entire audience’s experience. Meanwhile, Myar’s defenders feel that she was unfairly targeted for simply showing appreciation for the comedian.

Regardless of public opinion, Myar has made it clear that she will not be attending another Peter Kay show anytime soon. Meanwhile, Kay’s tour continues as planned, with the comedian focused on keeping his performances enjoyable and disruption-free.
