A new lawsuit filed by Angelina Jolie reveals shocking details of the abuse she and her children allegedly suffered from Brad Pitt during a private plane flight in 2016.
The flight, which took place after the couple visited their French winery, Château Miraval, was the catalyst for Jolie’s decision to divorce Pitt.
In the court papers, Jolie claims that Pitt assaulted her and two of their children physically and verbally, while also throwing alcohol on them.
According to Jolie’s lawsuit, Pitt’s violent behaviour started before they boarded the plane, when he had a confrontation with one of their kids.
Once they were in the air, Jolie approached Pitt and asked him what was wrong. Pitt then accused her of being too lenient with the children and verbally attacked her.
He then dragged her into the bathroom in the back of the plane and shook her by the head and shoulders, before pushing her into the wall. He also punched the ceiling several times, causing Jolie to leave the bathroom.
When one of their children tried to intervene, Pitt lunged at his own child and choked him. Jolie grabbed Pitt from behind to stop him, but he threw himself backwards and injured her back and elbow. The other children rushed in and tried to protect each other.
Pitt continued to emerge from the back of the plane and yell and swear at them. He also poured beer on Jolie and beer and red wine on the children.
Jolie and her children remained silent and still under blankets for the rest of the flight. The incident was investigated by the FBI in 2016, but no charges were filed.
Jolie filed for divorce five days after the flight and sought sole custody of their six children, who were aged between 8 and 15 at the time. The abuse allegations are part of an ongoing dispute between Jolie and Pitt over their French property, which Pitt claims they agreed not to sell without each other’s consent.
Jolie denies this and blames Pitt for ending the negotiations over buying her shares of the winery. Pitt denies the abuse allegations and accuses Jolie of revising and reimagining the events to suit her agenda.
