Cardi B and Offset were driving in Los Angeles when they spotted a homeless man holding a sign that said “I did 20 years in prison.
Please help me.” The couple decided to stop and talk to the man, who told them his name was James and his story of how he ended up on the streets.
He said that he was convicted of a robbery he didn’t commit when he was 18, and that he spent two decades behind bars before being exonerated by DNA evidence.
He said that he had no family or friends to support him, and that he struggled to find a job or a place to live.
Cardi B and Offset were moved by James’ story, and decided to give him a generous gift. They handed him $500 in cash, and told him to use it to get some food, clothes, and a hotel room.
They also offered to help him find a lawyer and a social worker who could help him get back on his feet. James was stunned and grateful, and thanked the couple for their kindness and generosity.
He said that they were the first people who ever showed him any compassion, and that he would never forget their gesture. Cardi B and Offset hugged him and wished him good luck, and then drove away.
They later posted a video of their encounter with James on their social media accounts, and urged their fans to donate to organizations that help the wrongfully convicted and the homeless.
