Kelly Ripa Says Mark Consuelos ‘Shamed’ Her for ‘Disgusting’ Bedroom Habit—But Then Adopted It Himself!
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ playful on-air banter has once again left fans laughing, and this time, it’s over a hilarious debate about an unexpected bedroom habit.
During a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the longtime couple opened up about their past disagreements over eating in bed—
leading to some good-natured teasing from Kelly, who accused Mark of “shaming” her for years before ultimately doing the same thing himself.
A Cheese-Fueled Conversation Sparks a Revelation
During the January 31 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the couple discussed a report that suggested eating cheese before bed could help prevent sleep apnea.
Intrigued by the idea, Kelly jokingly proposed that they make cheese a part of their nightly routine.
Mark played along, suggesting, “We should put two little things of cheese on either side of the bed.”
But his comment immediately caught Kelly off guard, and she wasted no time calling out what she saw as a sudden change of heart.
“That’s eating in the bed,” she pointed out. “For years, one of us shamed the other one of us for eating in the bed.”
Her statement left Mark looking confused, prompting even more laughter from the audience.
‘You Called It Disgusting for 28 Years!’
Still puzzled, Mark asked Kelly when he had supposedly “shamed” her for eating in bed. Without missing a beat, she responded, “For the first 28 years of our marriage.”
The audience erupted in laughter, and even a producer behind the camera could be heard chuckling at Kelly’s quick wit.
Mark, however, seemed genuinely surprised, asking, “What would you eat in bed?”
Kelly didn’t hesitate, listing off a variety of foods she’s enjoyed in bed over the years. She then reminded him of his long-standing stance against it.
“You always said, ‘That’s disgusting. Eating in bed is disgusting,’” she recalled.
But then, in a twist of irony, Kelly exposed Mark’s apparent hypocrisy. “And then you took up eating the peanut butter and the jellies in bed, and suddenly, it was fine.”
Mark, still in disbelief, questioned whether he was actually the one who had made those comments.
“Are you sure that was me?” he asked, causing another wave of laughter from the audience.
The Rules in Bed Changed
Kelly doubled down, assuring her husband that he was indeed guilty of shaming her in the past. But she also explained when and why things changed—when Mark spent an extended period in Vancouver, Canada, filming Riverdale.
“He lived there for a long time, so the rules in the bed changed,” Kelly explained.
While Mark had been away, Kelly revealed she had also adjusted the couple’s long-standing bedroom rules. “For me, I started allowing the dogs to sleep in bed,” she admitted.
Mark, amused by how much had changed, pointed out another shift in their nightly routine. “You took my side of the bed, too.”
Kelly didn’t deny it. She even doubled down on her original point, saying that after Mark got used to eating in bed while in Vancouver, he brought that habit home with him.
“Correct. And then you started, I believe, eating in your own bed in Vancouver, and you came home and brought that habit home with you,” she confirmed.
A Marriage Full of Fun Banter
Fans of Live With Kelly and Mark are no strangers to the couple’s playful exchanges. Married since 1996, Kelly and Mark frequently poke fun at each other on air, offering viewers an entertaining look at their real-life dynamic.
Just a few days after the bedroom debate, the pair shared another lighthearted moment on the February 3 episode of their show. They discussed a study that found 17 percent of married readers picture their spouse when imagining a love interest in a novel, while others envision a celebrity crush instead.
Kelly humorously admitted that while she considers Mark her celebrity crush, it also feels like a missed opportunity. “But you’re also my husband, so I feel robbed of a true celebrity crush,” she joked.
Mark, never missing a beat, quipped, “It’s like having your birthday on Christmas.”
Kelly agreed, laughing, “Correct. Same. Same, but different.”
Fans Love Their Chemistry
Kelly and Mark’s fun-loving nature continues to be a hit with fans, and their on-screen chemistry is undeniable. Whether they’re joking about eating in bed or teasing each other about celebrity crushes, their playful back-and-forth makes their morning show all the more entertaining.
One thing is for sure—whether Mark wants to admit it or not, he has fully embraced eating in bed. And Kelly? She’s just happy to finally be proven right!
