Katie Price has candidly revealed her concerns that she may be entering menopause, sharing her struggles with new symptoms that have left her feeling unsettled.
The 46-year-old former model and television personality admitted
that she has been experiencing difficulties with sleep and waking up drenched in cold sweats—both potential signs of perimenopause.
Speaking on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, alongside her sister Sophie, Katie expressed her confusion and concern about the changes she has been noticing in her body.
“I’m not sleeping at night, and I’m normally a really good sleeper, so something’s going on,” she explained.
“I’m just going to get my blood test because maybe I’m having an early menopause. I don’t know how it all works, but I’m still having my periods.”
She also shared that she has been waking up with a soaked bed in the days leading up to her menstrual cycle, leading her to wonder if she is “going through the change.”
Past Warnings About Menopause and Fertility Struggles
Katie’s concerns about menopause are not entirely unexpected, as she was previously warned by a doctor that she would likely start the process in the near future. In her 2023 ITV docuseries, Katie Price: Making Babies, which chronicled her IVF journey with then-fiancé Carl Woods, medical professionals gave her some concerning news about her fertility.
Dr. Carole Gilling-Smith, a gynaecologist and medical director at the Agora fertility clinic, informed Katie that she only had a “couple of awake eggs,” meaning her chances of conceiving naturally were very slim. The doctor also told her that her hormone levels suggested she could begin menopause within the next couple of years.
Discussing the emotional impact of this revelation, Dr. Gilling-Smith explained how menopause can be psychologically difficult for many women, particularly those who place a high value on their youth and fertility.
“For Katie, the first sign of aging is coming from her ovaries, and that is a big blow—something some women find hard to accept,” the doctor said. “There is a feeling that you’re no longer attractive. That is a sort of unsaid, unspoken feeling that women will have.”
Katie’s Concerns About Aging and Motherhood
Katie has always been vocal about her desire to have more children, whether through IVF or surrogacy. She is already a mother to five children: Harvey, 22, Junior, 19, Princess, 17, Jett, 11, and Bunny, 10. However, her fertility struggles and the possibility of menopause may present a significant emotional challenge for her, particularly as she continues to pursue her dream of expanding her family.
Those close to Katie believe that the transition into menopause could be particularly difficult for her, especially given her long history of cosmetic procedures aimed at maintaining a youthful appearance.
In a recent interview, she even admitted that despite undergoing over 20 cosmetic surgeries, she still struggles with her self-image and avoids mirrors in her home.
“I certainly don’t think I’m beautiful,” she confessed. “I look at old photos of myself and think, ‘Urrrgh!’”
Expert Insight on Perimenopause and Aging Concerns
Menopause expert Niki Woods weighed in on Katie’s concerns, explaining that anxieties about aging and fertility during perimenopause are common, particularly for women who still wish to conceive.
“Katie is 46, and the average age for menopause—defined as a full year without periods—is 51 in the UK. So I would think it very likely that she’s in perimenopause,” Woods said.
She also acknowledged that for women who have built their identities around youthfulness or fertility, the onset of menopause can be an emotionally challenging transition.
“One of the challenges for women is that when we enter perimenopause, we still feel young. But those of us born in the ’70s and ’80s grew up thinking of menopause as an ‘old lady’ thing. And, of course, society strongly associates youthfulness with female attractiveness,” she explained.
“For women like Katie, who seem to put a strong emphasis on appearing youthful and on their ability to have children, it can be especially difficult emotionally.”
Fears of Losing Love Due to Fertility Issues
Beyond the physical symptoms of menopause, Katie has also voiced concerns that her struggles with fertility could impact her relationships. During Katie Price: Making Babies, she admitted to feeling insecure about her future with Carl Woods, fearing that her inability to conceive naturally might push him away.
“I’m now paranoid that he won’t want to be with me because he’ll want a kid,” she shared in the documentary. “And he’ll think I’m so much grief that he’ll go and get someone younger and set up a family.”
She later opened up directly to Carl, saying, “I feel you’re going to leave me.”
Though her relationship with Carl has since ended, Katie remains determined to explore all avenues to motherhood. She is currently in a relationship with Married at First Sight UK star JJ Slater, and sources close to her suggest she is still hopeful about expanding her family.
