Alison Hammond Set to Host Reboot of Hit BBC Show Hole in the Wall
Alison Hammond is set to add yet another major television gig to her ever-growing list of hosting roles.
According to reports, the beloved presenter has been tapped by the BBC to front the revival of the wacky game show Hole in the Wall.
Alison Hammond Lands New BBC Hosting Role
Over the past few years, Alison has solidified herself as one of the most sought-after presenters in British television.
From her co-hosting duties on This Morning to taking over For the Love of Dogs and becoming a presenter on The Great British Bake Off,
her career has been on an upward trajectory.
Now, it appears she’s gearing up for another major role, as the BBC is reportedly bringing back the fan-favorite Hole in the Wall, with Alison as its new host.
The Return of Hole in the Wall
Originally airing between 2008 and 2009, Hole in the Wall was a chaotic, laughter-filled game show that saw celebrities donning tight lycra suits while attempting to fit through bizarrely shaped holes in an oncoming wall. The objective was to avoid being knocked into a pool of water while competing to win a £10,000 charity prize.
The first season of the show was hosted by the late Dale Winton, while Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke took over for the second series. Now, 16 years after its last episode, the BBC is reportedly gearing up to bring the show back to screens, with Alison leading the charge.
BBC ‘Over the Moon’ to Have Alison on Board
According to a source speaking to The Sun, the BBC has been keen on rebooting the show and knew Alison was the perfect fit.
“Hole in the Wall got great ratings when it first came out, so the Beeb have decided to bring it back. They are currently filming the pilot to see how it shapes up. They wanted to sign Alison, and she jumped at the chance to do it,” the source revealed.
The insider continued, explaining the BBC’s excitement over securing Alison:
“She’s one of TV’s most in-demand stars right now, and the Beeb is over the moon that they’ve signed her.”
Alison’s infectious personality and quick wit make her a natural choice for the show, which thrives on light-hearted fun and unpredictable moments.
“Alison adores her job and is always on the lookout for shows where she can have a real laugh. That’s why she loves presenting Bake Off and This Morning—they are light-hearted and fun,” the source added.
The BBC has yet to confirm an official air date for the Hole in the Wall reboot, but the pilot episode is reportedly in production. Neither the BBC nor Alison’s representatives have commented on the reports at this time.
Alison Recently Spoke About Wanting a Break from TV
Interestingly, news of Alison’s latest hosting role comes just weeks after she revealed her desire to take a break from television. Speaking to HeatWorld, the star expressed her dreams of stepping away from the small screen to travel the world.
“In the next ten years, I want to travel the world. I would love to take a year off and just go and travel,” she shared.
She reassured fans that she isn’t planning on leaving TV anytime soon, but acknowledged that she wants to explore the world before settling down completely.
“Not just yet, but one day. I need to see the world before I die!” she added.
A Perfect Fit for the Show?
Given Alison’s vibrant personality and unmatched ability to entertain, it’s no surprise that she’s been chosen to bring back a show known for its comedic chaos. With her at the helm, the revival of Hole in the Wall could very well capture the hearts of a new generation of viewers while bringing a nostalgic favorite back to life.
Fans of the original show will undoubtedly be eager to see how Alison Hammond puts her own spin on the role when the new series eventually hits screens.
