Alison Hammond Set to Host Iconic BBC Show in This Series’ Unexpected Return

Alison Hammond is set to take on another major television role as she is reportedly lined up to host the reboot of the beloved BBC game show Hole in the Wall.

This marks an exciting new chapter for the 50-year-old television personality, who has already established herself as a fan favorite across multiple programs.

The hit show, which originally aired between 2008 and 2009, featured celebrities attempting to fit through moving wall cut-outs to avoid being knocked into a pool of water.

The original series was first helmed by the late Dale Winton before Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke took over hosting duties.

Now, with a new era on the horizon, the BBC is looking to bring back the show, and Alison has reportedly jumped at the chance to lead it.

BBC’s Decision to Revive Hole in the Wall

According to The Sun, Hole in the Wall enjoyed strong ratings during its initial run, making it a prime candidate for a revival. The BBC is currently testing the waters with a pilot episode to see if the new version captures the same magic that made the original so entertaining.

A source shared with the publication that the network is eager to bring back the high-energy, slapstick-fueled game show, and Alison Hammond is their top choice for the hosting role. Known for her infectious personality and ability to bring humor to any situation, she seems like the perfect fit to guide contestants through the chaotic and hilarious challenges.

Alison Hammond’s Expanding TV Career

Alison has been a household name for over two decades, with her career taking off after she joined This Morning in 2002. Over the years, she has transitioned from being a beloved showbiz correspondent to becoming a main presenter, co-hosting Friday episodes alongside Dermot O’Leary since 2021.

Beyond This Morning, Alison’s television presence has continued to grow. In 2023, she took over as co-host of The Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding, replacing Matt Lucas. That same year, she also stepped in to present For The Love of Dogs, following the passing of the beloved Paul O’Grady.

Adding to her impressive list of projects, Alison is also currently filming a travel series titled Florida Unpacked, where she explores the Sunshine State with her 18-year-old son, Aidan. This latest venture showcases her versatility, taking her beyond the studio into a more documentary-style format.

From TV Star to Businesswoman

Alison’s popularity extends beyond television, with numerous high-profile partnerships and business ventures. She has collaborated with brands such as Crown Bingo and DFS Furnishings and even launched her own clothing collection with In The Style in 2022. Additionally, she appeared in Birmingham’s Christmas Pantomime of Peter Pan, further solidifying her status as an all-around entertainer.

What to Expect from the Hole in the Wall Reboot

If the pilot proves successful, Hole in the Wall is expected to return later this year, with Alison at the helm. The revamped show is likely to maintain the original format’s mix of celebrity contestants, physical comedy, and over-the-top fun. Fans can expect a combination of nostalgia and fresh energy, making it a must-watch for both old and new audiences alike.

With Alison’s comedic timing and vibrant on-screen presence, there’s no doubt she will bring a unique flair to the show. Her ability to connect with contestants and viewers alike will ensure that this reboot delivers all the laughter and entertainment that made the original series a hit.

While the BBC has yet to confirm an official air date, anticipation is already building. If everything goes as planned, Hole in the Wall could become one of the standout game shows of the year, with Alison leading the way in her signature upbeat style.

For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements, but one thing is certain—Alison Hammond’s television career continues to reach new heights, and her latest role is set to be another massive success.
