Shakira announces disappointing news amid health battle

Shakira’s devoted fans have been left heartbroken once again as the Colombian superstar was forced to cancel another concert on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

The disappointing news comes just a week after the singer was hospitalized due to an abdominal issue.

The 48-year-old launched her highly anticipated tour on February 11 in Brazil, but since then, a series of unfortunate setbacks have plagued the production.

Shakira had been scheduled to perform in her hometown of Medellín, Colombia, on February 24,

but due to unexpected safety concerns, the concert has been postponed indefinitely.

Stage Safety Issues Force Last-Minute Cancellation

Fans eagerly awaiting Shakira’s Medellín performance were met with disappointing news when event organizers, Paramo Presenta, announced that the show could not proceed as planned. The company released an official statement explaining that structural damage to the stage’s roof had raised significant safety concerns.

“During the assembly process of the show scheduled for February 24, the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that puts at risk the safety of the artist, her staff, and, most importantly, that of the audience,” the statement read.

To ensure everyone’s well-being, the event was called off, with organizers and Shakira’s team working to reschedule the show for a later date.

While the decision was made with safety as the top priority, it understandably left many fans disappointed—especially those who had traveled long distances to see the singer perform.

Shakira Shares Emotional Message with Fans

Shakira, who had been looking forward to performing in her homeland, took to social media to express her sadness over the cancellation.

“My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to,” she wrote in Spanish on X (formerly Twitter).

She revealed that her two sons, Milan and Sasha, had been excited about visiting Medellín, making the postponement even more disheartening.

“I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for you. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll soon find a new date to celebrate together,” she continued.

Shakira ended her message by thanking her fans for their unwavering support, writing, “I love you very much and I hope to see you very soon.”

Health Scare Adds to Tour Setbacks

The Medellín cancellation comes shortly after Shakira was hospitalized due to an abdominal issue, which also forced her to miss a scheduled performance in Peru.

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” Shakira shared in a statement last week.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer expressed her deep regret over missing the show, adding, “The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening. I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru.”

Despite the setback, she reassured fans that she was receiving the necessary care and hoped to recover quickly. “I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform. My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you. Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all,” she concluded.

Tour Faces Unexpected Criticism

In addition to health challenges and logistical issues, Shakira’s tour has also faced criticism from some fans of fellow superstar Beyoncé. A debate ignited online after some Beyoncé fans accused Shakira of copying aesthetics and concepts from Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, particularly in regard to stage design and costume choices.

Despite the backlash, Shakira has continued to focus on delivering an unforgettable experience for her fans, proving her resilience in the face of obstacles.

Looking Ahead

Although the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour has faced multiple roadblocks, Shakira remains committed to making it a success. Her team is actively working on rescheduling affected dates, and fans remain hopeful that they will soon get the chance to see her perform.

With her undeniable talent, dedication, and the unwavering support of her fans, Shakira is determined to overcome these setbacks and continue shining on stage. For now, her health and safety, as well as that of her team and audience, remain the top priorities.
