Susan Lucci sparks water fight live on GMA as she leaves Michael Strahan drenched

Soap opera icon Susan Lucci made quite the splash—literally—during her latest appearance on Good Morning America.

The All My Children star joined the morning show for what seemed like a routine segment but ended up soaking co-host Michael Strahan not once,

not twice, but three times in a hilarious live TV moment.

The segment, which started as a playful demonstration of classic soap opera fight techniques,

quickly escalated when Lucci decided to show Strahan just how dramatic a well-executed water toss could be.

The former NFL player-turned-TV host took the unexpected drenching in stride, even encouraging Lucci to go for another round.

Michael Strahan Gets Drenched—Three Times!

During the segment, Strahan brought up Lucci’s previous visit to GMA, when she had taught him the art of a convincing fake TV slap. This time, they were taking things up a notch.

Michael, ever the willing participant, asked her how to make a soap opera fight even more intense. That’s when Lucci, with all the experience of a seasoned daytime drama veteran, explained that timing and props are key. “I think it’s really important to not just out of nowhere, just all of a sudden, have a fight. You got to have the fight and then be in that moment where you are really, really ticked off.”

As Strahan listened, Lucci suddenly reached for a glass of water sitting on the table—and before he could react, she tossed it right at him. Though most of the water missed him, it was enough to get a reaction. Strahan, ever the entertainer, dramatically wiped his face and laughed.

But instead of calling it quits, he upped the ante. “Bring more water. C’mon. Let’s do this thing right. Get the aim right,” he challenged.

Lucci was happy to oblige, and with a second glass in hand, she delivered a perfect splash directly to Strahan’s face. The GMA studio erupted in laughter as Strahan shook off the surprise, his co-hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos wisely dodging out of the way.

Then, just when it seemed like the segment had reached its peak, a producer handed Lucci an entire pitcher of water. The actress, fully embracing the moment, didn’t hesitate—she dumped the entire thing over Strahan’s head, leaving him completely drenched.

Social Media Reacts to the Hilarious Moment

The GMA team wasted no time sharing the unforgettable TV moment on social media. Posting a series of photos from the segment, the show’s official Instagram account captioned the post: “To really make sure we nailed the take, @therealsusanlucci had to throw water on @michaelstrahan not one, not two, but THREE times 😂.”

Fans couldn’t get enough of the playful exchange. “Michael needed that wake-up call! 😂,” one person joked in the comments. Another added, “George and Robin got out of there FAST! 😂😂😂.” A third viewer quipped, “Susan Lucci is a LEGEND. She understood the assignment!”

Michael Strahan’s Future at GMA in Question

While Strahan was all smiles during the segment, his appearance comes amid growing speculation about his future at Good Morning America. Reports suggest that he is considering stepping away from the show after nearly eight years, with some insiders hinting that he may be planning an exit by the summer.

Sources claim Strahan, who also serves as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday, has been re-evaluating his career commitments. The decision reportedly stems from recent personal challenges, including his daughter Isabella’s serious health scare. The 19-year-old was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and the experience has led Strahan to focus more on family.

In a heartfelt interview, Strahan opened up about the fear he felt upon learning about his daughter’s diagnosis. “As a parent, you’re scared. Oh my, you’re just scared. It never occurred to us that it would be cancer,” he said. “I’ll be honest with you, just looking at the trajectory at that point of her life. And we have no history of anything bad in the family.”

While Isabella is now recovering, Strahan admitted that the experience made him think about life differently. “I find myself worrying about future check-ups, even thinking 30 years ahead. It changes your perspective on everything.”

What’s Next for Strahan?

Strahan has been a staple on GMA since 2016, when he transitioned from Live! with Kelly and Michael. Balancing early morning hosting duties with his work at Fox NFL Sunday, he has juggled multiple high-profile gigs for years. However, with reports of potential changes in Fox’s NFL coverage and other longtime analysts considering retirement, Strahan could be eyeing a shift in his own career.

For now, he remains a key player on Good Morning America, bringing his signature charisma and humor to the show. And if his recent water fight with Susan Lucci is any indication, he’s still having plenty of fun along the way.

One thing’s for sure—whether or not Strahan stays with GMA, he’ll never forget the day Susan Lucci gave him the ultimate soap opera lesson… and left him completely drenched on live TV!
