GMB chaos as Boris Johnson abruptly walks off in the middle of interview live on air

Viewers of Good Morning Britain were left stunned today when former Prime Minister Boris Johnson unexpectedly cut his live interview short and walked off mid-conversation.

The dramatic moment unfolded as Boris, 60, spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley live from Kyiv, marking three years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Boris Johnson’s Surprise Appearance in Kyiv

As the world grapples with ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, Johnson’s presence in Kyiv caught many by surprise.

Susanna Reid voiced her astonishment at seeing the former UK Prime Minister in the war-torn country during such a crucial period. Addressing him directly, she remarked:

“This is a bit of a surprise that you’ve turned up in Kyiv. It’s a big day, of course, because world leaders are having this call about what to do about Ukraine.

What do you think should happen?”

Johnson responded by dismissing suggestions that Ukraine was to blame for the ongoing war—comments that had been fueled by former US President Donald Trump’s criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump recently claimed that Zelenskyy had “talked the US into spending $350 billion on aid” for Ukraine, a statement that Johnson labeled as “rubbish.”

Instead, Boris shifted the discussion to a minerals agreement between the US and Ukraine, hinting that a deal was close to being finalized. He stated:

“That commits the US not only to future financing of Ukraine but also to a free, sovereign, and secure Ukraine under Donald Trump. That is not to be sneezed at—it’s a very important commitment.”

Then, without warning, he ended the interview.

Johnson’s Sudden Exit Stuns GMB Hosts

Just moments after making his point, Johnson appeared to struggle with his earpiece before muttering:

“Anyways, I’ve got to love you and leave you.”

His unexpected departure left the hosts scrambling to keep the conversation going. Richard Madeley quickly interjected with a pressing question, asking:

“As a former prime minister, how do you deal with an American president who says that black is white? How do you talk to him?”

Still in a rush, Boris gave a brief response:

“You have to keep knocking the ball back over the net.”

Then, without further discussion, he removed his microphone and earpiece, stood up, and walked out of the shot, leaving Susanna and Richard to wrap up the segment. Susanna, visibly surprised, remarked:

“Thank you very much indeed for your time this morning. Just disentangling himself from our microphone, and off he goes.”

Breaking News and Political Implications

Recognizing the significance of what had just happened, Good Morning Britain interrupted its usual programming to relay Johnson’s remarks. Susanna announced:

“Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson tells this programme there is a deal to be done over Ukraine, and now is the time for the UK to step up in negotiations with the US to end [the war].”

Richard then elaborated on the potential breakthrough, explaining:

“He was speaking here live just a few minutes ago, predicting that there will be a deal in the next couple of days between America and Ukraine over mineral rights, which effectively, he says, will put America back with skin in the game. Big game changer.”

The discussion also touched on Zelenskyy’s recent comments, where the Ukrainian leader suggested he would be willing to step down if it meant securing peace. With major geopolitical shifts possibly on the horizon, Johnson’s abrupt but significant interview added yet another layer to the ongoing global debate about Ukraine’s future.

Boris Johnson’s History of GMB Controversies

This isn’t the first time Boris Johnson has made headlines for walking out of a Good Morning Britain segment. He famously avoided an interview on the show in 2019 by allegedly hiding in a fridge.

At the time, during his campaign trail, GMB producer Jonathan Swain confronted him for a live interview at a Yorkshire dairy business. As the cameras rolled, Swain asked:

“Morning, Prime Minister. Would you come on Good Morning Britain, Prime Minister?”

In response, one of Johnson’s aides was caught on camera muttering, “Oh for f**’s sake.”*

Boris, seemingly caught off guard, told the producer, “I’ll be with you in a second.” But instead of engaging with the press, he walked into a fridge stacked with milk bottles, prompting Piers Morgan—who was co-hosting GMB at the time—to exclaim:

“He’s gone into the fridge!”

Although Conservative sources later denied Johnson was hiding, claiming he was simply preparing for a pre-arranged interview, the incident became a viral moment that added to his reputation for dodging difficult media confrontations.

Public Reactions and What’s Next

Johnson’s latest departure from GMB has reignited debate about his media strategies and approach to tough questioning. Some viewers took to social media, accusing him of once again avoiding scrutiny, while others praised him for providing crucial updates on the Ukraine situation before moving on with his agenda.

Whether his sudden exit was a strategic move or simply an issue with scheduling, one thing remains clear—Boris Johnson continues to be an unpredictable force in both media and politics. His remarks about an imminent US-Ukraine deal could prove to be a pivotal development, and the world will be watching closely to see if his predictions come true in the coming days.
