Dylan Dreyer admits to feeling ‘intimidated’ during personal confession on Today Show

Dylan Dreyer has won over a legion of fans with her down-to-earth personality

and frequent updates about her adorable family on social media.

The NBC star, best known for her role on the “Today Show’s Third Hour,” often shares relatable moments that resonate with her audience.

On a recent episode of the morning show, Dylan made an honest confession that struck a chord with many viewers.

During a segment focused on being an effective health advocate, she revealed a common struggle that many experience when visiting the doctor.

Joined by her co-hosts Al Roker and Craig Melvin, as well as guest Dr. Cedrek McFadden, Dylan admitted that she often feels “intimidated” during medical appointments.

She explained that before her visit, she has a list of concerns she wants to address, but when she is face-to-face with the doctor, she suddenly downplays her worries.

“Before the appointment, I feel I have all these things I want to talk to the doctor about, and then during the appointment, the doctor comes in and I’m like, ‘I’m all good.’ I feel intimidated sometimes at the doctor’s office. What do you do?” Dylan asked.

Dr. McFadden reassured her that this is a very common issue and suggested a simple but effective strategy—verbalizing her nervousness. “It’s very normal, that’s very common. I always like to say it out loud. Say, ‘I’m really nervous, I have a lot to say, but I want to get it out,'” he advised. He also recommended writing down concerns before the appointment to ensure nothing important is forgotten.

Dylan and her co-stars are eagerly anticipating the holiday weekend, and she kicked off the Third Hour show with a lighthearted comment, saying, “We’ve almost made it,” as they counted down the days until Labor Day.

The beloved meteorologist recently returned to work after taking time off to vacation in South Carolina with her family. She and her husband, Brian Fichera, are parents to three young sons—Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty. Over the summer, the family enjoyed memorable trips to destinations like Turks and Caicos and Los Angeles, making the most of their time together before the school year resumed.

Dylan spoke about her summer plans in an interview with HELLO! and expressed excitement over spending more quality time with her family. Unlike previous years, she would not be traveling to Paris for the Summer Olympics, which left her with a rare opportunity for downtime. However, she noted that she would remain on standby in case of major weather events requiring coverage.

When discussing the challenges of traveling with young children, Dylan shared a valuable parenting hack—bringing along grandparents. “If you can enlist someone else in your family… like my mother and father-in-law, they will drop everything to travel with us, and it makes it so much easier,” she said.

She also encouraged parents to embrace the flexibility that comes with vacationing with kids. “When you’re on vacation with your kids, you’re not home—you don’t have laundry to do, you don’t have bills to pay—just embrace the vacation,” she explained. “Stop thinking of all the things you want to do or have to do. The kids are happy just running up and down the hallway of the hotel. They’re fine jumping in the pool. Even if it’s nothing fancy, if there is a body of water, that’s all they want to do. Just go with the flow a little bit.”

Dylan believes in allowing her children to enjoy the trip on their own terms. “If they want to stay up late and watch TV, why not? What are you going to do the next morning? We let them eat whatever they want, let them call the shots, and do whatever they want, and it just makes it easier and less stressful for everyone involved.”

As a working mom, Dylan balances a busy career with family life, and her relatable approach to parenting continues to resonate with fans. Whether sharing personal struggles like feeling intimidated at doctor appointments or providing travel tips, she remains an authentic and beloved presence on television and social media.
