Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter slams ‘selfish’ co-star during clash live on ITV show

The latest episode of Loose Women saw a fiery exchange between panellists Janet Street-Porter and Denise Welch, with the two women disagreeing sharply over emigration.

During a debate about current events, tensions rose when Denise shared her views on the issue, prompting Janet to label her opinion as “selfish.”

The discussion began when the panel, which also included host Ruth Langsford and fellow panellist Coleen Nolan, turned to the topic of emigration.

Denise, who had voiced concerns about the state of the country, suggested that people may be considering leaving the UK due to various social and political issues.

Janet, however, took issue with this perspective, responding heatedly, “That’s so selfish.”

When Denise asked Janet to explain why she thought her viewpoint was selfish, Janet fired back, “If you don’t like the country you are in, do something about it yourself.”

The exchange escalated further when Denise responded, “I’m trying to,” to which Janet bluntly suggested, “Then go to another place, like Dubai.”

This suggestion didn’t sit well with Denise, who countered by pointing out the advantages of moving to places like Dubai. She argued, “You pay no tax and it’s safe,” adding that the UK’s respect for human rights often doesn’t align with the rights of victims. Her statement, which seemed to challenge the direction of the conversation, sparked a moment of tension between the two women.

The confrontation between Janet and Denise quickly became a central point of discussion on Loose Women, with both women standing their ground on the issue. While Janet took a more pragmatic approach to the matter, urging individuals to make a change if they were dissatisfied with the country, Denise emphasized the importance of considering broader human rights issues when discussing emigration.

As the argument simmered down, Ruth Langsford, who was hosting the show, shifted gears to a more personal topic, making an urgent appeal to the viewers about skin health. She prompted the audience to consider their skin care routines, reminding them that any changes in skin condition could be indicative of other health issues. Ruth also shared her own health concerns, revealing that she had recently been worried about moles on her skin. She reassured viewers that it was nothing serious, reflecting on her past approach to health and her current commitment to getting regular checkups.

Ruth shared that, as a child, she wasn’t fully aware of the risks of sun exposure. “When we were young, we didn’t know the dangers of sunbathing,” she explained, noting that her family moved frequently due to her father’s military career, which often meant they spent a lot of time in sunny climates. “I remember sunscreen being around, but not smothering it on,” she recalled.

The topic of health took a more light-hearted turn when Coleen Nolan joked about Ruth’s appearance earlier in the show, saying, “Didn’t you go green earlier?” to which Ruth laughed and responded, “I did go green but it’s gone now. I don’t know what that was, maybe because it was early morning.” Despite the lighthearted moment, the conversation also highlighted the growing importance of skin checks and regular health assessments as we age.

The episode also touched on the growing concerns surrounding skin cancer and how dermatologists have warned the public not to overlook changes in their skin. Ruth’s openness about her recent health scare, as well as her decision to get regular mole checks, served as an important reminder for viewers to stay vigilant about their own health.

In conclusion, the Loose Women episode highlighted a mix of heated debate and personal reflection. The clash between Janet and Denise over emigration provided some tense moments, while Ruth’s discussion of skin health offered viewers valuable advice. The show continues to tackle a wide range of topics, from personal opinions on major societal issues to the importance of self-care and health awareness.
