‘Today’ Hosts Break Down in Tears Following Emotional Month on the Show

The Today show has recently been filled with emotional moments, and the latest heartfelt exchange took place on the Tuesday, February 25 episode.

Co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie found themselves overwhelmed with emotion

while discussing their deep friendship and the special role they play in each other’s lives.

The tearful moment came as the two women discussed Guthrie’s new children’s book, Mostly What God Does Is Love You.

What started as a conversation about the book quickly turned into a touching reflection on their years of friendship and the strong bond they share—not just as co-hosts, but as family.

A Friendship That Goes Beyond the Today Show

Guthrie and Bush Hager have been close friends for years, and their connection extends beyond their work on Today. In fact, the two are godmothers to each other’s children, a testament to the strength of their relationship.

Bush Hager became visibly emotional while speaking about Guthrie’s daughter, Vale, whom she has known since birth. “I want to weep because I’ve known Vale-y every day since she was born—many of us have—but also, I’m so lucky to be her godmother,” she said through tears.

She went on to praise Guthrie for the way she has raised her children with kindness and faith, adding, “I’m so proud of her because everything you’ve given to them, all of your faith that you’ve passed down so gently, without preaching, without demanding, are in those little kids. And when the world feels dark, that is hope.”

Guthrie, clearly moved by Bush Hager’s words, wiped away tears of her own. Their emotional exchange resonated with viewers, highlighting the genuine affection and admiration they have for each other.

The Special Bond Between Their Families

Guthrie, who is mom to daughter Vale, 10, and son Charley, 8, shares her children with husband Mike Feldman. Meanwhile, Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager, are parents to three children: daughters Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5.

Their decision to be each other’s children’s godmothers speaks volumes about the trust and love they share. Guthrie serves as the godmother to Bush Hager’s youngest child, Hal, while Bush Hager has the honor of being Vale’s godmother.

This deep family connection was evident during the emotional segment on Today, where their heartfelt words reflected just how much they mean to each other.

A Moment of Vulnerability That Resonated with Viewers

It’s not the first time a touching moment has played out on Today, and it certainly won’t be the last. The morning show has always been a space where hosts feel comfortable showing their emotions, and their openness often resonates with audiences.

This latest exchange between Guthrie and Bush Hager struck a chord with fans, who took to social media to express their admiration for the co-hosts’ authenticity. Many viewers praised them for sharing such a personal and heartfelt moment, proving that their friendship is far more than just an on-screen partnership.

A Friendship Celebrated Through the Years

Their bond has been evident both on and off the screen. In a March 2023 interview with People magazine, Guthrie opened up about her friendship with Bush Hager, describing her as someone who is always there to offer support and encouragement.

“She is just such a light,” Guthrie said at the time. “I feel so grateful to have her in my life, not just as a colleague, but as a true friend.”

Their relationship has been built on years of laughter, shared experiences, and unwavering support, making moments like this one on Today all the more meaningful.

A Reminder of the Power of Friendship

In a world where genuine friendships can sometimes feel rare, Guthrie and Bush Hager’s emotional moment served as a reminder of the beauty of deep, meaningful connections. Their tears weren’t just about their own bond, but about the love they share with their families and the values they hope to pass on to their children.

As they wiped away their tears and embraced, it was clear that their friendship isn’t just one for television—it’s a lifelong connection built on trust, love, and an unbreakable bond.
