Ruth Langsford’s veiled five-word dig at Eamonn Holmes leaves Loose Women co-star floored

Ruth Langsford, 64, brought some light-hearted humor to a recent Loose Women discussion when she reminisced about the birth of her son,

Jack, and her co-parenting experience with her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes.

The panel, which also included Myleene Klass, Linda Robson,

and Denise Welch, delved into various topics surrounding childbirth and midwifery, sharing their personal experiences and insights.

Ruth took the opportunity to reflect on the birth of Jack, now 22, and the moments that stood out to her during that significant time.

As the conversation turned to the topic of parenting and childbirth,

Ruth jokingly remarked on Eamonn’s involvement during Jack’s birth, playfully suggesting there were areas for improvement in his parenting techniques at the time.

She said, “Eamonn did what he could,” which sparked laughter from both her fellow panellists and the audience. Ruth, however, quickly clarified with a smile, “No, no, he did. He did.” She then shared more about her birth experience, revealing how she felt a deep connection with her midwife, Maria, who had been a crucial part of the process. Ruth fondly recalled how Maria, who sadly passed away, became not just a midwife but a long-term friend. “We remained friends, and she even came to Jack’s birthday parties when he was young,” Ruth shared, highlighting the special bond they had formed over the years.

Ruth continued, explaining how, during the birth, her attention was primarily on Maria, as she navigated the challenges of giving birth and the overwhelming emotions of becoming a new mother. “I just remember feeling that Maria and I birthed Jack… I mean, Eamonn was there and he did what he could in that moment,” Ruth laughed as she described the scene. “At that moment, I was relying on her. You know, when you have your eyes closed, I could hear her talking, going, ‘Keep on, another breath.’”

Ruth’s reflections showcased the significance of the midwife’s role during childbirth and the support she provided, especially for first-time mothers. “I just remember focusing on her voice and her face that really got me through. I was a new mum, I didn’t know what I was doing, and she had birthed so many babies,” Ruth noted, emphasizing how important the midwife’s experience and reassurance were during the birth.

The conversation took a nostalgic turn as Ruth fondly remembered her time co-hosting This Morning with Eamonn for 15 years. The couple, who had long been beloved as a TV duo, ended their marriage in May of the previous year. Their professional partnership had been a hallmark of the popular ITV daytime show, and Ruth’s comments offered a glimpse into the more personal side of their relationship, particularly during the challenging times of parenthood.

Ruth’s candid comments about Eamonn’s parenting were met with understanding and laughter from her fellow panellists, who supported her light-hearted take on the situation. It was clear that, despite their split, Ruth and Eamonn shared a mutual respect and understanding of their roles as parents to Jack.

In addition to Ruth’s reflections, the panel also discussed the broader subject of childbirth and midwifery, with Myleene Klass sharing her own emotional journey. Myleene, who has been open about her experiences with miscarriage, became visibly moved as she recounted the profound pain she endured after suffering four miscarriages. Her story resonated deeply with the panel, and it led to an unexpected but meaningful friendship with her midwife, who had been a source of comfort and support during such a challenging period in Myleene’s life.

The discussion highlighted the importance of midwives and the critical role they play in supporting women through the often daunting experiences of childbirth and loss. Myleene’s heartfelt story was a reminder of the deep emotional connections that can form between healthcare professionals and patients, especially during life’s most vulnerable moments.

As the segment wrapped up, Ruth’s humorous take on her parenting experience, coupled with the more serious and emotional reflections from Myleene, created a well-rounded and touching conversation on the challenges of motherhood and the vital support women need. The panel’s candidness about their personal experiences offered viewers a relatable and heartfelt glimpse into the realities of parenting, loss, and the unwavering support of those who guide us through life’s most profound moments.
