Hoda Kotb’s New Role at NBC Revealed

Hoda Kotb may be stepping away from her longtime role on Today, but she isn’t leaving television entirely.

The well-loved journalist and TV personality has signed a new deal with NBC, securing her place in the network’s future while exploring new ventures.

A New Role at NBC

Kotb, who bid farewell to her Today co-hosting duties on Friday, January 10, is set to remain a familiar face at NBC.

As part of her new agreement, she will take on the role of a special correspondent, contributing exclusive interviews and high-profile coverage.

One of the most exciting aspects of her new position will be her involvement in NBC’s Olympic coverage.

She is slated to appear at both the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Kotb herself described her role at the games as being similar to that of Snoop Dogg’s participation in NBC’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. This suggests a more relaxed, engaging, and entertaining approach to reporting, which fans of Kotb are sure to appreciate.

A Continued Presence on Today

Although Kotb is stepping down from her primary hosting duties, she won’t be disappearing from Today altogether. She will still be involved with the morning show, making guest appearances in monthly segments.

Speaking about this transition, Kotb explained that she wanted to stay connected to Today without being at the center of it. “I want to be a supporting character on a team that is already in place,” she shared, noting that she’s excited to contribute while taking a step back from the day-to-day responsibilities of being a lead host.

NBC has reportedly planned for Kotb to appear every four to six weeks, ensuring that her presence remains a part of the Today family.

Changes to Today and the Fourth Hour

Kotb’s departure has led to some restructuring at Today, particularly in the fourth hour of the program. Formerly known as Today with Hoda & Jenna, the segment will now be rebranded as Today with Jenna & Friends, signaling a shift in format. Jenna Bush Hager will continue hosting but will be joined by a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts instead of having a permanent replacement for Kotb.

Additionally, Craig Melvin has been named as Kotb’s replacement on the main Today show, stepping into her former role.

Expanding Beyond Television

In addition to her ongoing work with NBC, Kotb is diving into new projects outside of television. One of her latest ventures is the development of a wellness app, which she has been passionate about creating.

Kotb recently shared her vision for the app, explaining that she wants it to be an affordable and accessible platform to help people improve their well-being. “Most of this stuff you can do for free — you just need someone to show you how,” she explained. Her goal is to create a user-friendly resource that provides tools and guidance in one convenient place.

Beyond her new role at NBC and her business venture, Kotb will also continue hosting her podcast, Making Space, which has been a meaningful project for her. The podcast focuses on personal growth, inspiration, and emotional well-being—topics that align with her new wellness initiative.

Looking Ahead

While her departure from Today marks the end of an era, Kotb is far from stepping away from the spotlight. Her new role as a correspondent, her work on the Olympics, and her continued involvement in Today will keep her engaged with audiences who have followed her for years.

Fans of Kotb can look forward to seeing her in exciting new ways, whether through her television appearances, her podcast, or her upcoming wellness app. Even though she won’t be in the Today studio every morning, her influence and presence will still be felt across multiple platforms.

Hoda Kotb’s next chapter is one of evolution, growth, and new opportunities—proof that while some roles may end, there are always new beginnings on the horizon.
