Donny Osmond forced to correct TV host live on air telling her ‘that’s not quite true’

During a lively segment on Good Morning Britain (GMB), host Susanna Reid received a gentle nudge back on track from pop icon Donny Osmond

after a question about the challenges of child stardom went off-course.

The moment occurred during a live video chat between Susanna, co-host Ed Balls, and the legendary entertainer on March 6,

when the discussion took a slight detour and Susanna’s phrasing led to a bit of confusion.

The segment initially focused on Donny’s new Las Vegas show, where he sings alongside a digital version of his younger self.

The Puppy Love singer was joining the show to promote his new venture, but the conversation veered into the topic of child stardom and the difficulties that young stars face in the spotlight.

Susanna began with a question that was intended to touch on the pressures young celebrities face. She remarked, “Are we propelling people into adulthood too soon?” She went on to mention the struggles of young actors like Millie Bobby Brown, who has often spoken about the challenges of growing up in the media’s gaze. However, Susanna’s words took an unexpected turn when she said, “You know she’s sort of frozen, we want people to stay frozen where they were.”

As the conversation continued, Susanna added, “A lot of people have had bad experiences! Guy Chambers said that people shouldn’t join boy bands until they’re 18 as one suggestion to protect children.” At this point, she attempted to wrap up the point by saying, “But you’re embracing of your 14-year-old self’s experience; you’ve had no experiences that relate to that.”

It was at this moment that Donny Osmond, never one to shy away from a correction, stepped in with a quick and courteous response. “Well, that’s not quite ‘true’. That’s not quite ‘true’,” he said, smiling as he addressed Susanna’s comment.

Donny, who first rose to fame as a child star with The Osmonds, shared his personal experience with the difficult transition from a teen idol to an adult entertainer. He explained, “I went through a very difficult time of transitioning from a teeny bopper to an adult entertainer, and for people to accept all of that, it was a very difficult transition.”

Drawing from his own career trajectory, Donny elaborated on how he managed to successfully navigate this transition. “What happened with me was that I was accepted for when Soldier of Love came out and when Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat came out, when I won Dancing with the Stars,” he continued. “Those types of shows helped to establish me as an adult. It’s a lot easier to go back and embrace the teeny-bopper career because I was already accepted as an adult.”

For Donny, his journey from a child performer in the spotlight with his siblings in The Osmonds to his re-establishment as an adult artist is a testament to his enduring popularity and adaptability in the entertainment industry. His success was not only about his ability to remain relevant in music but also about his versatility in other areas of performance, from stage productions like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to reality shows like Dancing with the Stars. These milestones helped Donny to be recognized and accepted as an adult performer, allowing him to embrace his early career without being defined by it.

Donny’s response brought clarity to Susanna’s statement, providing insight into the complexities of transitioning from a child star to an adult in the entertainment industry. He demonstrated the importance of personal growth, reinvention, and the need for public acceptance when navigating such transitions.

His remarks served as a reminder of the challenges that child stars face, including being typecast in their younger roles and the struggles to break free from those early identities. Donny’s ability to successfully reinvent himself in adulthood stands as an inspiration to many child stars who face similar obstacles.

The conversation ultimately highlighted the pressures that young celebrities endure and the significant support needed to help them evolve in the industry. Donny’s experience of transitioning from a teen idol to an adult artist with a long-lasting career offers valuable lessons in resilience and self-reinvention.

In the end, it was a brief yet insightful moment on Good Morning Britain that not only showcased Donny Osmond’s wisdom and experience but also reminded viewers of the often-overlooked challenges faced by those who grow up in the limelight. Donny’s career is proof that, with the right balance of personal growth, reinvention, and public acceptance, child stars can thrive well beyond their teen years and continue to find success in the entertainment world.
