Jordan North lands new role on This Morning to pay tribute to ‘heroes’ who saved his life

Jordan North, the 35-year-old radio DJ and Capital Breakfast host, has landed an exciting new role on This Morning,

where he will pay tribute to the heroic efforts of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) team who rescued him in December.

North’s rescue came after a dramatic incident on the River Thames, which left him stranded and in a panic after a brave attempt to save a dog in distress.

The harrowing ordeal unfolded when Jordan was out on an afternoon run along the banks of the Thames near Hammersmith in London.

As he jogged, he noticed a Labrador that had fallen into the water and was struggling to stay afloat. Without hesitation, Jordan rushed to assist the animal.

However, in the process of rescuing the dog, Jordan found himself stuck on a beam while trying to get back to safety.

As he struggled to hold on, a member of the public quickly called for help.

Fortunately, the RNLI Chiswick crew was near Hammersmith Bridge at the time, conducting a training exercise. This proved to be a blessing, as they arrived at the scene in a matter of minutes. When the rescue team found Jordan, he was clinging to a float with the dog by his side, while bystanders shone their phone torches across the riverbank to help the RNLI crew locate him in the dark.

Reflecting on the terrifying experience, Jordan expressed his immense gratitude to the RNLI for their quick response. “A big thank you and a massive shout out to RNLI Chiswick who came and rescued me because I was getting a bit panicky,” he said the next day during his show. “I was getting a bit nervy as well because I thought my legs are going to go, I can’t hold on much longer so they got there just in time.” He added, “The real heroes here are the RNLI who came out and got me, put a blanket round me. They’re the heroes.”

Now, Jordan is set to return the favor and highlight the incredible work of the RNLI in a special segment on This Morning. The segment will be part of an effort to raise awareness of the essential life-saving work done by the RNLI teams, and Jordan is eager to take part in a training session with the same crew that saved his life.

On the upcoming episode, viewers will see Jordan engage in a training exercise that mirrors the very drill he was rescued from. Jordan will take part in a realistic simulation of a rescue, working with the RNLI Chiswick Lifeboat Station crew to perform a rescue drill involving a dummy floating on the water. This exercise will showcase the precision, skill, and coordination required to perform rescues in real-life conditions, which the RNLI crew faces regularly.

The segment promises to be a moving tribute to the RNLI’s dedication and the critical role they play in saving lives along the UK’s coastlines and waterways. Jordan, who has gained national recognition for his lighthearted personality and humorous anecdotes, is eager to share this experience and help viewers understand the risks involved in water rescues and the exceptional expertise of the RNLI teams.

For Jordan, this opportunity holds personal significance. After experiencing first-hand how the RNLI’s rapid response saved his life, he is more determined than ever to give back and honor their service. The training session will also allow him to show his gratitude in a tangible way while educating others about the invaluable work of these maritime heroes.

Jordan’s new role on This Morning highlights a deeper side of his character, offering viewers a chance to see a more serious and reflective side of the DJ. It also underscores his commitment to using his platform to raise awareness about important causes, including the life-saving work of organizations like the RNLI.

The upcoming segment is sure to inspire many, reminding us all of the courage and selflessness of the individuals who put their lives on the line to help others. As Jordan North demonstrates, heroes can come in many forms, but sometimes, they wear a wetsuit and a life jacket.
