It’s been twenty years since they first met at Emma Watson’s screen test for the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise.
And the actress was there to party with author J.K. Rowling as she marked her 54th birthday this week, looking younger than she did two decades ago.
Sharing a snap on Instagram Emma, 29, posed with the writer and her Harry Potter co-star Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood, during the costume party.
Emma dressed in a Wonder Woman costume while Jo stood in the middle of the trio, sporting a glam black halterneck dress and gory makeup over one half of her face.
Evanna meanwhile looked gorgeous in green with sparkly cat makeup and her blonde locks styled into ears.
An impressed Emma paid tribute to both Jo and Evanna’s costumes in her photo caption, writing: ‘Sexy and scary! You smashed this.
All the love to you Jo. Happy Birthday!!!! Extra points to @msevylynch for being the most perfect cat.’
Emma first met Jo when she was auditioning for Harry Potter at just nine-years-old.
After support from the author of the beloved books, Emma was cast as Harry’s friend and Hogwarts classmate Hermione, with Daniel Radcliffe scoring the lead role, and Rupert Grint completing the trio as Ron Weasely.
Emma and Jo worked together on the eight movies in the franchise from 2001 to 2011.
Since then Emma has combined her acting with studying and her activism, with her next movie project a big screen adaptation of another beloved book – Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women.
Rowling meanwhile has continued writing after her Harry Potter books, penning five novels for adult readers.
After having creative control over the Potter movies and working as a producer for the Deathly Hallows two-part installment, the writer has also collaborated on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films.
Evanna, a lifelong Potter fan, landed the role of Luna Lovegood during an open casting call in 2006 – marking her first ever professional acting role.
Evanna has continued to act since the Potter film franchise came to an end, landing a number of roles in independent films as well as performing on stage in London and New York.
She also made the finals of Dancing With the Stars in 2018 while undertaking extensive charity work over the years.
