Michelle Obama announces new podcast with brother Craig Robinson after stepping back from the spotlight

Michelle Obama is stepping into the world of podcasting alongside her brother, Craig Robinson.

The former first lady announced on Monday that they are launching a new podcast, “IMO”,

where they will share their perspectives on life, relationships, and current events.

A New Venture with a Familiar Voice

The podcast, set to debut on March 12, will feature candid discussions between the siblings, who will reflect on everyday challenges, personal growth, and the issues shaping society.

According to a press release, their goal is to offer “honest opinions and perspectives on life’s biggest questions.”

In the announcement, Michelle Obama expressed excitement about the project, stating:

“With everything going on in the world, we’re all looking for answers and people to turn to. My brother Craig and I launched the ‘IMO’ podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life.”

She added that while there is no single way to navigate life’s challenges, open discussions can provide support and hope.

Craig Robinson, who is a former basketball coach and executive, echoed Michelle’s sentiments, emphasizing their strong sibling bond.

“We grew up talking through life’s big and small questions together. And now, we’re inviting listeners into that conversation, with the hope that it sparks new ideas, new perspectives, and creates the connection we could all use right now.”

Star-Studded Guest Lineup

The podcast will not only showcase engaging conversations between Michelle and Craig but will also feature a lineup of well-known guests, including actress Issa Rae, motivational speaker Jay Shetty, and actress-singer Keke Palmer. These guests will contribute their own insights and experiences, making for thought-provoking discussions.

In addition to its official launch, Michelle and Craig are set to appear at SXSW in Austin, Texas, on March 14, where they will record a special live episode of their podcast in front of an audience.

Michelle Obama’s Shift from the Spotlight

This latest project marks a shift for Michelle Obama, who has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent months. Following the 2024 presidential election, she has appeared less frequently at major political and public events.

In January, she was notably absent from two high-profile gatherings—former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Trump’s inauguration. While her husband, former President Barack Obama, attended both events solo, Michelle’s absence was never officially explained. However, reports suggested that she was on an extended vacation in Hawaii at the time.

Speculation About Her Marriage to Barack Obama

Michelle’s more private lifestyle has fueled speculation about her marriage to Barack Obama. Some sources have suggested that she has been “checked out” of Washington, D.C., life since the couple left the White House in 2017.

“They don’t pretend that they have this Camelot relationship,” a source reportedly said. “They’re not trying to present that they’re this magical couple.”

However, Barack Obama recently shut down any rumors of trouble in their marriage by sharing a heartfelt post for Valentine’s Day, featuring a loving selfie of the two together.

The couple first met in 1989 and tied the knot three years later. They have two daughters, Malia (25) and Sasha (22), who have also largely kept out of the public eye in recent years.

A New Chapter for Michelle Obama

As Michelle Obama embarks on this new podcasting venture, it’s clear that she is continuing to find ways to connect with people beyond politics. Whether discussing personal growth, family, or the state of the world, “IMO” is set to offer listeners a unique and insightful perspective—one shaped by both experience and a commitment to meaningful conversations.

With her reputation as an inspiring public figure, Michelle’s latest project is sure to attract a dedicated audience eager to hear what she and her brother have to say.
