Molly-Mae Hague has opened up about her ongoing struggle with dermaplaning, admitting that she has fallen into a cycle with the cosmetic procedure. 

The 25-year-old influencer and entrepreneur shared her experience on Instagram, 

showing off the results of her latest treatment and revealing her mixed feelings about the skincare practice.

Hooked on Dermaplaning

The Maebe founder took to social media to display her freshly smooth skin after undergoing dermaplaning, a treatment that removes dead skin cells and fine facial hair using a scalpel. 

While the procedure leaves skin looking brighter and feeling softer, it can also lead to a cycle where the hair grows back faster, prompting people to continue the treatment regularly.

Molly-Mae acknowledged this in her Instagram post, writing:

“Dermaplaning… The trap is so real. Look at the amount of fuzz that comes off my face when I get it done… because I leave it so long deciding if I want to do it again or not [laughing face emoji].”

She later followed up with another image of her smooth skin, adding:

“The feeling after. Fuzz free.”

Speaking to her YouTube audience, she explained:

“If you guys can see that I do have a little bit of a beard, we’re not talking about it. I need to speak to you guys about my battle with dermaplaning – and just wish I never got dermaplaning. I basically have a full beard now.”

She went on to say that her peach fuzz began growing back much more rapidly after she had the treatment done multiple times.

“Basically with the dermaplaning, I got into the habit of having a dermaplaning facial and my peach fuzz just grows back at rapid levels now,” she shared.

Skincare Expert Weighs In

While many people share Molly-Mae’s concerns about dermaplaning leading to increased hair growth, skincare expert Sinead Gallagher explained that this isn’t technically the case.

Gallagher stated that dermaplaning is an excellent treatment for creating smooth skin, especially before an event, but it doesn’t actually change the rate or thickness of hair regrowth.

“It’s fantastic for a pre-event treatment. But, it doesn’t make your hair grow back any quicker or thicker. You are simply treating fine hair on the surface,” she clarified.

However, she acknowledged that once someone gets used to having no facial hair, any regrowth can feel more noticeable than before.

“But once you have removed the hair, like Molly-Mae, the regrowth can become more noticeable to your own eye, as you’ve got used to being without it,” Gallagher explained.

She reassured those concerned about dermaplaning’s effects, stating that since the treatment doesn’t touch the root of the hair, it doesn’t cause long-term changes to hair growth.

Personal Life and Relationship Rumors

In addition to her skincare revelations, Molly-Mae has been making headlines for her personal life, particularly regarding her relationship with Tommy Fury. The former Love Island star, who shares a two-year-old daughter, Bambi, with the professional boxer, was reported to have split from him in August.

“They are definitely back together, and they love each other very much. They’re both besotted by Bambi and they want a happy family unit. But things take time, and Molly knows full well that some people thought their split was a publicity stunt, which it wasn’t – so she’s wary of what she shares and wants to take things slowly,” the insider continued.

“She knows Tommy is a great father, so that wouldn’t worry her, but having a baby is such a big decision. It’s totally understandable that she’s terrified.”
