aitlin Clark made her highly anticipated WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever, but it was the Dallas Wings who stole the show with a last-second three-pointer to clinch a 79-76 victory on Friday.

Despite the loss, Clark’s performance was a spotlight event. The former Iowa standout clocked 28 minutes, scoring 21 pointson 6 of 15 shooting. Beyond her scoring, she added three rebounds and two assists, showcasing the versatility she’s known for.

However, the night was not without its challenges for Clark. In a revealing post-game press conference, Fever coach Christie Sides shared insights into the rookie’s physical state during her first professional game. “It got to a point early where she was gassed and asked for a sub. That was awesome for her to do,” Sides explained. This candid admission highlighted the intense pace and physicality of the WNBA, which even top rookies have to adjust to.

Clark was subbed out late in the first quarter after playing just over 7.5 minutes, a move Sides later reflected on critically. “We have to do better. We can’t let her get to that point,” Sides remarked, pointing out the need to manage Clark’s stamina more effectively, especially as she faces double teams and aggressive defense.
