Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex is the “most intelligent member of the British royal family,” according to a new study released by Oxford Royale.
The education company analyzed the academic credentials of the blue-blooded family members, looking at their high school results and the rankings of the colleges that they attended.
Oxford Royale used the QS World University Rankings, which rates colleges based on their academic reputation and faculty-to-student ratio, as part of their analysis.
Meghan, 40, took out top spot, given that she graduated from the elite Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
The Duchess holds a double degree in theater and international relations from the prestigious college, which is placed at number 30 on the QS World Rankings for 2021.
A spokesperson for Oxford Royale commented on the findings: “Life as a royal isn’t always an easy job and involves a lot of dealing
with extensive scrutiny and life in the public spotlight, and Meghan Markle’s academic strengths have equipped her perfectly for this role.
“While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned from their roles as working royals, they have captured the interest and attention of the world, and Meghan’s desire to use her platform to raise awareness over serious world issues reflects her intelligence, analytical mind and educational pedigree.”
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, came in as the second most intelligent royal in the study.
The brainy brunette, 39, attended high school at the private Marlborough College in Wiltshire, England, where she attained three A-levels in her final year of school. She scored A grades in math and art, and a B in English. The A-levels are subjects studied by British students in their final two years of school, and are needed for entrance into college. The better a student scores on an A-level, the more likely they are to be granted entry to an elite university.
She went on to study at the University of St. Andrews, which ranks at number 91 on the QS World Rankings.
Prince William was declared the third most intelligent royal, having also studied at St. Andrews. However, Kate was considered smarter than the future king, since she outperformed him in the A-level exams.
William scored an A in geography, a B in art and a C in biology during his final year of high school.
William’s brother, Prince Harry, didn’t even make Oxford Royale’s top 10 list. The renegade royal only attained two A-levels in high school; scoring a B in art and D in geography. He did not attend college.
The royal family has not publicly responded to the new study.
Meanwhile, a number of William and Harry’s famous cousins made the top 10 list.
Princess Eugenie ranked in the fourth spot, while her sister Princess Beatrice came in at number 10. The Queen’s other grandchildren Peter Phillips and Zara Phillips were placed at numbers 5 and 6 respectively.
Meanwhile, Lady Kitty Spencer — who is the niece of Princess Diana — is the only royal in the top 10 with a master’s degree. The 30-year-old blonde holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and a master’s in luxury brand management from the European Business School in London.
She placed eighth in the study.
