Meghan Markle grins driving her $140K Range Rover at Montecito ‘In-N-Out Burger’

Meghan Markle has been spotted driving her own car for the second time in less than a week – this time stopping to purchase food from In-N-Out.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, grinned as she waited for her meal behind the wheel of her $140,000 black Range Rover close to the couple’s $14.6m Montecito home.

Pictures show her smiling and looking into the California fast-food chain restaurant with a friend as her husband jetted off to Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games.

She looked happy and chatted with a pal as they waited for the restaurant’s famous burgers, which are only available on the West Coast.

The burger joint is a favorite of Prince Harry, with Meghan saying last year that the couple enjoyed ‘surprising’ the staff at the one close to their home.

‘There’s one at the halfway point between L.A. and our neck of the woods. It’s really fun to go through the drive-thru and surprise them,’ she told Variety in 2022. ‘They know our order,’

Harry revealed that his top order at the restaurant is the Double Double, with fries and a Coke, while his wife orders a cheeseburger, fries and a side of jalapenos.

It’s unclear if the Duchess plumped for that order on Sunday with a pal, which would set her back around $8 if she ordered it as a meal.

Meghan donned sunglasses and pulled her hair into a sleek ponytail as she drove just a few miles from the $18 million Malibu property that she and her husband are reported to have been eyeing up recently.

Harry landed in Britain for the first time in three months last week to pay his respects to the late Queen and attend the WellChild awards gala at the Hurlingham Club in London – with body language experts claiming he acts ‘very different’ when he isn’t with his wife.

Last week DailyMail.com shared exclusive images of the former actress behind the wheel of her car for the first time since January 2020 – and has been pictured using private chauffeurs and personal drivers in the meantime.

The last time Meghan was pictured in the driver’s seat was more than three years ago, on January 17, 2020.

She drove to Victoria International Airport in Canada to pick up a friend around the time that she and Harry announced they were ‘stepping back’ from their royal duties.

Harry was all smiles as he arrived for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, as he posed with British competitors and high-fived superfans.

The Duke of Sussex, who went on the solo whirlwind trip to the UK without his wife and children, was spotted leaving St George’s Chapel in Windsor at lunchtime yesterday.

He was photographed paying respects to the Queen by a tourist in a shock secret visit to the church, where the late monarch was laid to rest.

The fifth in line to the throne then flew to Dusseldorf in Germany for the opening ceremony of his Invictus Games on September 8.

Harry founded the Paralympic-style competition for injured military personnel and veterans.

It was first believed that Meghan would be attending the event alongside her husband, as the original schedule stated that she would ‘take to the stage’ during the closing ceremony to ‘host the intimate and moving glimpse into the extraordinary journeys of the Invictus Games competitors.’

But her name mysteriously disappeared from the website earlier this week, and was replaced by presenter Hadnet Tesfai’s.

A source told DailyMail.com that the first schedule was uploaded in error. It’s now unclear if she will attend the event.

Last year, Meghan supported Harry at the Invictus Games, and she even introduced him on stage.

Just before Harry jetted off to England, he and Meghan, who share son Archie, four, and daughter Lilibet, two, enjoyed a date night when they attended music sensation Beyoncé’s concert in Los Angeles – where they danced the night away.

Meghan also went to another one of the singer’s sold out shows in LA three days later – this time without her other half – where she partied with the likes of Katy Perry, the Kardashians, Lizzo, Tyler Perry, Jeff Bezos, Chris Rock, Adele, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and a host of other stars.

She was also seen mingling with Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos, and his wife, Nicole Avant.

It comes amid growing reports that the couple have been working behind the scenes to separate their brands.

Harry has been working alone on the Invictus project, with some saying it is his ‘big relaunch as a philanthropist’, and a project that is his.

Meghan failed to appear with her husband during his media blitz for Spare, and only made a fleeting appearance in her husband’s latest Netflix documentary, Heart Of Invictus.

She has also signed up with super-agent Ari Emanuel in a deal which will seemingly make her a global lifestyle influencer with a side order of philanthropy.

DailyMail.com revealed that the new buzz phrase for the Montecito two is ‘brand separation’, with Adam Lilling advising the couple on how to monetize their new ethos.

Lilling was snapped with Harry at a football game in LA, without his wife, despite being a long-time friend of the actress.

Nick Ede, a brand and culture expert, and friend of the duchess dating from the period before she met Harry, casts light on what Lilling’s presence reveals — and unpicks what ‘brand separation’ means in practice.

‘I’ve spoken to mutual friends and it’s not true they are divorcing,’ says Ede. ‘What is actually happening is they are trying now to undo the damage they did with the Harry & Meghan documentary and Spare, which made them into a toxic couple.

‘The first way to do that is to allow Meghan to get away from the victim narrative and away from Harry so people can see who she is.

‘Meghan needs to forget about being a duchess and forget about good works. She has been isolated in Montecito and hiding away. But she is fun and funny, which is why we became friends. There wasn’t anything fun in [the documentary] or in the [Spotify] podcasts.

‘She will use Instagram to connect directly with fans around the world and to step out into who she is, which is not at all a victim.

‘She is 100 per cent a celebrity and will concentrate on that while Harry does whatever moves him.

‘If they are wise, they will copy the Beckhams, where each half of the couple has their own ‘thing’ and they do only a small amount together.

‘She could easily earn a million dollars. There is a lot of money which she will make very easily — as long as she does it away from him.’

The couple famously signed a $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020 and went on to release a six-part docuseries with the streaming giant in late 2022.

Harry’s documentary about the Invictus Games was branded as a flop after failing to make the top 10 list in the UK and America.
