Dolly Parton suddenly posted an urgent sale of her house for a difficult reason: ‘I’m at the end of my rope…’ (video)

A groovy Mid-Century Modern beach house that both Steve McQueen and Dolly Parton.

Once called home in the upscale Californian coastal community of Malibu sold last week for $9.5 million.

The property was built in 1969 by noted architecture firm Buff & Hensman.

Whose co-founders Conrad Buff and Donald Hensman left a legacy of modernist homes built during the postwar housing boom in Southern California.

“If you love mid-century architecture and those deep woods Buff & Hensman were the godfathers of warm organic mid-century and there was no one better,”

Said listing agent Branden Williams of the Beverly Hills Estates, who owns the home with his wife and co-listing agent, Rayni Williams.

The pair snapped up the home in 2019 for $7.5 million from actor Stephen Dorff, who had owned it since 2002, records with PropertyShark show.

Dolly Parton and Steve McQueen have both lived in the property, the sellers said, though they weren’t sure when.

“We bought it from Stephen Dorff in 2018 because of its architectural pedigree, we collect Mid-Century Modern homes and Buff & Hensman is one of our favorites,” Rayni said. “It just so happened to have this illustrious Hollywood history with owners who loved the home and beach as much as we did.”

Fully restored and set behind lush landscaping, the three-bedroom house is fresh from a yearlong renovation that has kept it true to its funky roots.

Its fitted double-height cedar ceilings, green shag wool carpet, pounded brass sinks, bold wallpaper, stained-glass installations and bronze mirrors.

There are also walls of windows for taking in the Pacific Ocean views, a sunken living room, an orange onyx kitchen, a cedar hot tub and a deck that leads right down to the sand.

Buff & Hensman “didn’t do a lot of beach houses, so to have one that has kept its purity is rare,” Branden said.

A copy of the deed for last week’s sale has yet to appear in public records, and as such Mansion Global couldn’t determine the buyer.

The Williamses won’t be moving far, having snapped up a neighboring home in 2022 for $10 million.

“We’re excited to move next door and have new memories in our next Mid-century Modern, which we’ve completely reimagined with the design duo at [design firm] Osklo, and let the next family take over the house and be our new neighbors,” Rayni added.
