Beyoncé, the global superstar and philanthropist, celebrated her 35th birthday with a spectacular party that was inspired by the legendary Soul Train show.

The singer, who is married to Jay-Z and has three children: Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir, threw the bash on Monday night (Sept. 5) in New York City with her family and friends.

The party was a tribute to the iconic variety show that ran for 35 years from 1971 to 1989 and featured music, dance, comedy, and fashion segments.

Beyoncé and her guests dressed up in retro outfits that matched the theme of the show, such as afros, bellbottoms, platform shoes, and colorful accessories.

They also danced to some of the classic songs that played on Soul Train, such as “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5, “Super Freak” by Rick James, and “Funky Drummer” by James Brown.

Beyoncé looked stunning in a sequined outfit that sparkled under the lights. She also wore a gold crown that resembled the one worn by Soul Train’s host Don Cornelius.

She was joined by Jay-Z on the dance floor and shared some romantic moments with him throughout the night. They also had fun with their daughter Blue Ivy who gave a shoutout to her mom after Beyoncé thanked everyone for coming.

“You guys did such an incredible job committing and I’m so happy to be here,” Beyoncé said. “You guys are my family.”
