The actress once incurred heavy losses due to her luck in real estate and the major contributor to her loss is her New York Upper East Side home.
Lawrence had a home in an area called The Laurel. As per a report by People, the actress was once the owner of a home in the New York Upper East Side.
Her house was the epitome of luxury and featured large windows, oak flooring, and a private terrace and all in all, a grandiose home.
Well, the actress bought her home back in 2016 at $15.6 million. Due to reasons unknown, the actress decided to sell her house. In 2019, she put out an ad for her home for $15.45 million (already taking a small loss). Well, the actress had a hard time selling the apartment. As the years passed by, the actress lowered the price to $12 million.
With no luck at her side, Jennifer Lawrence finally sold the piece for $9.9 million. With an initial price of $15.6 million and her selling price of $9.9 million, Jennifer Lawrence suffered a loss of $5.7 million! It doesn’t seem that luck was on Jennifer Lawrence’s side this time. The actress had a net worth of $160 million in 2023 (via Celebrity Net Worth) after starring in several successful movies and is not that bad. However, this wasn’t the case back in 2020 when the luck wasn’t on her side in the real estate business.
The Passengers actress starred in the 2017 film titled Mother! With Darren Aronofsky hailing the film as the director, the movie was quite confusing for several viewers. Well, Lawrence made a startling confession while making an appearance in Watch What Happens Live (via Daily Star).
“I’m going to be honest. Well, I was sleeping with the director, so I had CliffsNotes. So… five? Or a four. But if anybody needs any tips on understanding their films, you know what to do!”
The actress revealed in a separate interview on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast about how much she loved Darren Aronofsky.
“He flew in, pitched me, left. The whole thing was probably an hour and a half, and then I was like, he’s hot. I remember I was holding my dog and I shut the door and when the door shut I went, ‘Pippy, that’s called s-xual tension.’”
She further continued,
“He played hard to get for, like, nine months, maybe longer, which just killed me … I mean, I was in love with him for like, two years. I still love him very much.”
Mother! received a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDB and an average rating of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence in the lead roles, the 2017 film is available to stream on Paramount+ Apple TV in the U.S.
