In Hollywood, there is a boy of Vietnamese origin who lives a private life but is still eagerly sought after by the American media. 

He is Pax Thien, the adopted son of power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Pax Thien’s original name is Pham Quang Sang, born in a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City in 2003. 

From the time he was born, he was not as lucky as other children, growing up in the arms of loving parents. . 

They found him in a state that was only 2 days old. His only belongings were a birth certificate containing the family address and child’s name, along with an unpaid hospital fee of 480,000 VND.

His biological mother left and his grandparents were unable to take care of him, so Quang Sang was taken to the Tam Binh Orphanage Center. 

Because he was born prematurely and did not receive adequate care, Pham Quang Sang suffered from severe malnutrition, skin diseases and a number of other diseases.

Fate only truly smiled on the boy when Angelina Jolie – Hollywood’s top female star – came to Vietnam to look for a child to adopt in November 2006. While visiting the orphanage, she was impressed by a small, skinny boy standing nestled in the corner of the room. Among the happy children rushing out to receive gifts, Quang Sang left a strong impression in Angelina’s heart. 

In January 2007, Pax Thien was adopted by Angelina Jolie. She gave the boy the name Pax Thien, which means “peaceful sky”. From here, the Vietnamese orphan boy’s life turned to a new page.

At first, Pax Thien appeared quite shy, taciturn and quiet. Every time he appears in front of the media and a crowd, he becomes even more sensitive, often holding his parents’ and siblings’ hands tightly and not letting go. There was even a time when Pax Thien had negative reactions such as getting angry, running away or screaming when being followed and photographed by paparazzi.

Understanding that their adopted son was born in unfortunate circumstances and lacking love, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took care of the boy with tolerance and patience. The whole family gradually helped him integrate into the new living environment, becoming more confident, mature and steadfast over time. 

In Pax Thien’s life, expensive clothes and toys began to appear. As the beloved child of a Hollywood millionaire couple, he is often taken to grand events, enjoys luxurious vacations and many meaningful charity trips.

According to a statistic published by The Mercury News in 2018, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did not hesitate to withdraw their wallets of 7,000 USD to rent a yacht to celebrate Pax Thien’s 7th birthday and 500,000 USD to celebrate Pax Thien’s 7th birthday for a family vacation immediately afterward.

Up to now, he has turned 18 years old, becoming a steadfast, strong man with his own personality.

The media once “hunted” for pictures of him driving a Toyota Tacoma worth billions on the street. He looks extremely mature, sturdy and personable with tanned black skin and a strong body.

After the divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Pax Thien was often seen next to his adoptive mother. The actress takes special time for private outings with Pax. The two were photographed shopping at the Urban Outfitters store on LA’s trendy Melrose Avenue. They also had dinner together at hot spots like Tao and Nobu Malibu.

Pax frequently accompanied his adoptive mother at some of her film premieres, including Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and First They Killed My Father. However, he did not join his five siblings on the red carpet for the 2021 Eternals premiere.

Like the other five children of Angelina Jolie – Brad Pitt, Pax Thien does not want to inherit his parents’ acting career. As revealed by the Maleficent star, her 18-year-old son loves music. 

He is encouraged to learn about cultures while also learning cooking, painting and other gifted subjects that he loves

Sharing with People, Angelina Jolie revealed that unlike her personality, Pax Thien has an approachable, warm personality and is very attached to her family. Her younger son always gives in, takes care of, and protects his younger siblings like a true brother. 

“From a child who didn’t like being followed, Pax became an older brother who always kept an eye on the children. Every time he goes out, he holds his children’s hands tightly as if he’s afraid they will get lost,” Angelina Jolie shared.

Because the eldest brother, Maddox, went to Korea to study abroad and was not often with his family, Pax became even more like the eldest son in the family. He carried things for his mother and helped look after his younger siblings.

In July 2021, according to Daily Mail, Angelina Jolie took her children to travel to France. Pax Thien escorted her mother and children Zahara, Shiloh and Knox. He often walks backwards so he can see everyone’s situation.

Even though he is the son of an A-list star, Pax Thien chooses a rather private life, not liking to show off and show off. He spends a lot of time on his passion for music, movies and photography. In particular, he also likes to travel everywhere, thereby meeting new friends and helping unfortunate situations.

Right from the time she adopted her, she also hired a Vietnamese nanny to talk to her, take care of her, and help her feel less confused in the new environment. After that, his family also created conditions for him to learn Vietnamese because he wanted to speak his homeland’s language.

In 2011, Pax Thien was taken by Angelina to visit his hometown of Vietnam to learn about the land and culture that gave birth to him. 

The female star shared: “We owe Vietnam a visit, because Pax is indebted to this place.”

“Children will never lose their connection to their birthplace. They have their own roots that you need to respect and learn from. My children are not entering my world, but we are entering each other’s world,” Angelina Jolie said.
