Throughout the competition, Emmy belted out songs like “Skinny” (Auditions round), “More Hearts Than Mine” (Showstopper round).

“Beautiful Things” (Top 24 round), “Want You” & “Skinny” (Top 20 round), “”I Can’t Make You Love Me” (Top 14 round), “Lose You to Love Me” (Top 12 round).

“All the Small Things” (Top 10 round), “Coal Miner’s Daughter” (Top 8 round), “Shut Up and Dance” & “Water Under the Bridge” (Top 7 round).

And “The Climb” & “Carried Me with You” (Top 5 round). The 25-year-old songwriter from  Nashville, TN is the granddaughter of famed country crooner Loretta Lynn.

Following Emmy’s Top 5 performance of “Carried Me with You,” judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie showered her with praises. 

Katy told her she deserved to be “out front center,” Luke noted how she’s “growing so much right in front of [their] eyes,”

And Lionel urged her to remember the word “confidence” because it’ll help her blow the audience “away.”

The trio of singers who heard good news on Sunday night were, in no particular order: Will Moseley, Abi Carter and Jack Blocker. Next up, each of these Top 3 contestants will perform on Sunday, May 19 in the highly anticipated Season 22 finale, where they’ll be joined by celebs like Jon Bon Jovi, Cody Johnson, Wynnona Judd, New Kids on the Block and CeCe Winans.

Since ABC earned the rights to air “American Idol” in 2018, the winners have consisted of Maddie Poppe (Season 16), Laine Hardy (Season 17), Just Sam (Season 18), Chayce Beckham (Season 19), Noah Thompson (Season 20) and Iam Tongi (Season 21).
