Meghan Markle’s moves on the dance floor have been praised by fans online after footage from the duchess’ recent visit to Nigeria has gone viral on social media site, TikTok.
Meghan and Prince Harry were invited to undertake a special three-day visit to Nigeria by the country’s chief defense minister between May 10 and 12
where they participated in a number of events and engagements, many connected with Harry’s Invictus Games veterans initiative.
Though not an official royal tour in name, the visit was reminiscent of the overseas travels the duke and duchess made while working as members of the monarchy,
as they were received warmly at receptions and meetings with high-profile individuals, though importantly not the country’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Harry and Meghan’s fans closely followed as their Nigeria visit unfolded and were treated to a number of touching moments shared by the couple.
One moment caught on camera that has since gone viral saw Meghan displaying her dancing skills with hosts at a reception held in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.
The duchess attended the event wearing a strikingly simple column dress designed by Australian fashion brand St. Agni. Footage of Meghan’s “Dancing Queen” moment was uploaded to TikTok by user, kemosticated, on May 13 and has gained over 600,000 views on the social media platform so far.
Captioned “When Princess Meghan Markle tried to dance to her self acclaimed [sic] favorite Naija song #babycalmdown by Rema,” the video also shows Harry warmly greeting event hosts wearing a classically tailored white suit, aesthetically matching his wife.
The TikTok clip has received in excess of 22,000 likes and over 600 comments, many of which have praised the royal couple and their Nigerian visit.
“Just when you don’t think she could be anymore iconic, then she pulls out these moves!” wrote one user.
“She is wonderful. She’s dancing, smiling approachable. Love her,” posted another, with a further comment reading: “They are beautiful. I love to see the both of them together. They love each other.”
Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria visit inspired several viral social media moments from the duchess’ impressive range of stylish outfits to the prince’s powerful speech about mental health at a school.
Meghan and Harry also put their dancing skills to the test while visiting the Lightway Academy in Abuja, an educational facility that has worked with the couple’s Archewell Foundation.
During a visit to the school’s kindergarten class, the royals took part in a dance exercise, performing twists and basic moves with the laughing children.
The couple did not take their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet with them to Nigeria. Archie celebrated his fifth birthday on May 6 and Lilibet will turn 3 on June 4.
