Being a celebrity comes with a lot of perks, but there are also perils that one has to face, and Jennifer Lawrence knows exactly what they can be.
Rising to fame for her role as Katniss Everdeen in 2012’s The Hunger Games, she has gained a lot of fans, haters, and stalkers.
While haters are absolutely a nuisance, stalkers are more of a pain in the neck. They persistently invade someone’s privacy to the point that they lurk outside celebrities’ homes just to get a snap.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Adorable Nephew Defends Her From Stalkers
During her interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert while promoting her film Red Sparrow, actress Jennifer Lawrence talked about her family, particularly her nephews and niece.
She shared about them defending her from stalkers who steal pictures of her from outside their house.
“I have a lot of nephews, one niece, who are getting into that age now where they start asking why my sister-in-law and I are putting garbage bags on the windows, and they’re like, ‘What’s going on?’ and I’m like, ‘Remember what I told you about Aunt Jen’s job? It’s really weird (because it would not be Christmas without a stalker), and people think they know Aunt Jen, but they don’t.’ ”
Lawrence said that her beloved nephews and niece even plotted some harmless traps outside their house for them to know if any stalkers were roaming around, which the host remarked as something reminiscent of the Spy Kids movie.
“And then the 3-year-old was just like, ‘Well, if somebody tries to take a picture of Aunt Jen, I’m gonna shoot him with my Nerf gun.’ I said, ‘That’s really sweet.’ They also put bubble wrap at the end of the driveway so they could hear them coming. They’re going through their Home Alone phase.”
At the end of the interview, the American Hustle star said hello to her nephews and niece and admitted live on television that “Aunt Jen’s drunk. I feel like I should tell you that.”
Jennifer Lawrence’s Stalker Arrested After Bugging Her Brother
Jennifer Lawrence has had numerous stalkers in the past, one of them was even arrested for contacting her brother, Blaine Lawrence, more than 200 times. Canadian Zhao Han Cong allegedly told Lawrence’s sibling to put him in touch with the actress so he could protect her. The stalker also claimed that he was her husband.
As per the New York Daily News, Cong told the brother, “You got me really upset. When I’m, when I’m upset, let’s see what happens, all right?” He was then taken into custody after asking the police for the home address of Lawrence’s mother. He was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation.
It is definitely scary for Lawrence to have such an obsessive stalker who would threaten her family. The guy was so completely out of control that he was willing to fly all the way to Kentucky to see the actress.
Lawrence is very lucky to have such protective nephews and niece who would defend her from pesky intruders even if it means they would have to shoot them using Nerf guns.
