Meghan demands a significant sum of assets, disappointed with King Charles’ separate financial support for his 40-year-old son, Harry

Meghan Markle, who has recently returned to her home in Montecito,

California from her three-day visit to Nigeria “cannot see any problem with being super rich” and mixing with celebrities claims a royal author.

Since leaving the Royal Family in 2020, the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry announced they would become financially independent once they stepped down.

In the years since they’ve signed some exclusive deals with the likes of Netflix, Spotify, and Penguin Random House to grow their wealth.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal author, Tom Quinn said: “She cannot see any problem with being super rich and mixing with celebrities while telling people her real focus is the poor and the marginalised.”

He added: “One former friend of the couple insists Meghan wants to be both Marie Antoinette and Mother Teresa of Calcutta!”

Harry and Meghan relocated to the US after they stepped down from royal duties. After a brief spell in Canada, the couple moved to the luxurious Montecito residence, a known celebrity hotspot located just east of Santa Barbara on the gorgeous Pacific Highway coast.

Tom explained: “A big problem for Meghan is that she often seems almost obsessively driven by money. Despite the couple’s enormous wealth, Meghan never thinks it’s enough because she is living next door to celebrities who are far richer.”

Their nine-bedroom mansion cost £11.8million ($14.6million) and they did “everything they could” to buy it. It is reported that their security costs £1.5million ($2 million).

Harry and Meghan’s combined net worth is also estimated to be an eye-watering £48 million.

Not only does the couple spend a lot of money on security, but on following fashion trends. Meghan demonstrated this by having a number of outfit changes in Nigeria, and it was reportedly calculated she spent around £120,000 on new clothes and jewellery for the three-day visit and the move was criticised, given the levels of poverty in the country.

The Sussexes were invited to Nigeria by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who met Harry last September at last year’s Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany. Their invite came after Meghan found out about her Nigerian heritage.

Some critics claim the visit will produce “a lot of very good material” for the couple’s Netflix offerings, podcasts and programmes.

The Duchess of Sussex is currently working on a Netflix series which will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”, whereas Prince Harry’s separate show will focus on the sporting world of polo.

Meghan’s series is the one that was likely said to coincide with the launch of her latest business venture – lifestyle brand ‘American Riviera Orchard’.

Although their respective titles and release dates are yet to be announced, the projects are said to be in early production.
