Cooke reveals Jennifer has a particular fondness for hairstyles, and she plans to do something crazy with it…

From Kentucky girl to Academy-Award-winning actress by the age of 21, Jennifer Lawrence is a force to be reckoned with.

Sure, you probably know her best as the arrow-slinging, braid-wearing Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games film series,

girl’s got range—she rocks everything from sassy attitude in American Hustle to shape-shifting prowess in this month’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

With her action-packed résumé, it’s clear that J. Law has the remarkable ability to portray impossibly agile and nimble characters, but we all love her for her more mortal moments.

But much like her character, Mystique, Jennifer has the uncanny ability to undergo transformations time and time again without losing her signature charm.

We’ve seen the long and short of her hair, her endearing freckles, and regal updos. In honor of her most recent film, we’ve charted all her best beauty looks in one slideshow.

You know what goes best with her winning personality? A few killer haircuts.

February 2008

At a pre-Oscar party, an 18-year-old Jennifer wears natural makeup and leaves her blonde, loosely styled waves down. (Also note: That impossibly perfect hair color.)

June 2010

Behold: Jennifer Lawrence’s natural hair texture. Who knew our favorite actress also had a great head of curls?

October 2010

At the 14th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala, Jennifer’s hair is carefully styled away from her face (for a similar effect, blowdry with a round brush, then direct hair backwards with a larger-barrel curling iron). She’s also rocking ’70s-looking bangs, which were relatively (and sadly!) short-lived for the actress. For makeup, she introduces what will become her signature: A dramatic eye with a nude lip.

January 2011

Alert: Jennifer with straight hair. (This is the red carpet equivalent of spotting a rare bird in the wild.) She complements the sleek look with clean makeup and a modern, form-fitting dress.

January 2011

At the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she was nominated for Best Actress in Winter’s Bone, Jennifer opts for a dramatic, oversized bun. Since her hair is out of the way, she wears a dramatic gray smoky cat eye and mauve lipstick.

February 2011

Upon arrival at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards (where she is a first-time nominee for Best Actress in Winter’s Bone!), Jennifer is the epitome of a classic beauty in her red Calvin Klein gown and bombshell hair. Her nude lipstick perfectly keeps the attention on her copper-toned smoky eye, one of the best colors for making green eyes pop.

March 2012

At the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games, J. Law stuns with gold accessories woven through her hair and a black smoky eye. She also wears a baby pink matte lipstick.

March 2012

At the Paris premiere for the movie, Jennifer decides to go French-girl chic with her makeup: natural skin, a little liner, a swipe of mascara, and a pinky-red lip to top it off. She once again opts for sleek, super-shiny locks.

September 2012

At the Silver Linings Playbook press conference, we have her new brunette color (required for her role as Katniss Everdeen!) in her signature wavy style. She pairs it with a classic feline flick and immaculate skin.

September 2012

Late that month, Jennifer straightens her new brunette ‘do, but pairs it with a smudged eye and a berry lip.

January 2013

At the 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, Jennifer continues to impress on the red carpet. Rocking a slightly lighter color (notice she didn’t go straight back to blonde! It’s important to transition slowly for a healthy mane) and a gorgeous, side-swept updo, she absolutely epitomizes modern glamour.

January 2013

In a rare, more casual moment, it’s all about the ’60s here with a crown braid and mod pink lips.

February 2013

At an Academy Awards luncheon, Jennifer channels pure Brigitte Bardot with sideswept bangs, sultry eyes, and a St. Tropez tan.

February 2013

Arriving at the 85th Annual Academy Awards as a nominee (and later, winner) for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer is a vision. She looks immaculate in her princess-like Dior Couture gown, which is complemented by soft makeup and a regal, intricate updo.

May 2013

Jennifer continues her ultra-chic reign at the Met Gala, interpreting the party’s punk theme with a veil, a red lip, and subtle liner.

May 2013

At the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival, J. Law cuts her famous long hair for a shoulder-length chop.

November 2013

Up she goes! A few months later, Jennifer stuns with a chic new pixie cut and dramatic makeup at the Paris premiere of Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

January 2014

At the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, where Jennifer takes home an award for American Hustle, her eye makeup is dark and sultry, her skin is fresh, and her cheeks are rosy. Her brand-new pixie is enhanced with gorgeous, edgy texture.

March 2014

And here she is at the 86th Annual Academy Awards as a nominee for Best Actress. She keeps her makeup minimal and pumps up the volume on her new short hair, looking regal as ever.

March 2014

Very shortly following—at the after-party!—Jennifer combs back her grown-out pixie cut, piles on the eyeliner, and changes into a majorly embellished gown. Talk about a day-to-night look.

May 2014

At the premiere for X-Men: Days of Future Past, J. Law shows the versatility of her pixie cut. With a deep side part, a super-sleek finish, and a hint of color on the lips, she looks incredibly poised.
