It can be challenging to relate to the ups and downs of a movie star. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt joined the cast of Passengers at the height of their fame.

In the movie, their characters, Aurora and Jim, fall in love with each other.

Despite their obvious talents, Lawrence and Pratt found their love scenes awkward, especially when their characters shared their first kiss.

Like every other movie couple, the stars are drawn into controversies in an effort to enhance their on-screen chemistry by appearing to be a ‘real couple’.

Passengers actor Chris Pratt, who was then married to Anna Faris, was also involved in a rumored love affair with the Red Sparrow actress.

After eight years of their marriage, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris got divorced in 2018.

And Faris once spoke out about how “hurt” she felt when rumors of an alleged affair between her ex-spouse and his Passengers co-star surfaced in 2016.

Anna Faris Never Blamed Alleged Jennifer Lawrence Affair For Her Divorce

Life as a celebrity, in particular for a movie actor, is not as simple as it seems. They often make millions of dollars for their work and appear to lead the most luxurious lifestyles. They have to work on location for months at a time, film steamy scenes with their co-stars, and occasionally become the subject of fabricated ‘cheating’ rumors in the tabloids. Which, as one might expect, can upset their partners in ‘real life’.

Along with dealing with the complicated emotions that came with filming such a private scene with her married co-star, Jennifer Lawrence also had to deal with rumors that they had an on-set affair. Even after the rumors subsided after the movie’s release, they reappeared in 2017 after Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced their divorce.

Lawrence admitted on KISS FM that she never had an affair with Pratt while filming Passengers. 

“That’s a good one. … They got a divorce like two years later and everybody was like, ‘Jennifer Lawrence!’ And I was like, ‘What? I’m in Montreal.’”

When allegations of an affair between her estranged husband and his Passengers co-star first surfaced in 2016, Chris Pratt’s ex-wife, Anna Faris also opened up about how “hurt” she felt.

She has, however, made a point of stressing that she never harbored any animosity toward Lawrence. In her autobiography, Unqualified, Faris reflects on this moment:

“I talked to Chris about how hurt I felt, even though I knew there was no truth to the stories [that he cheated on her] and at first he didn’t understand…I didn’t want to pay attention to the stories but I couldn’t block them all out, either. I’d always taken pride in our relationship, and the coverage, even though it was just false rumours, was making me feel insecure.

Jennifer Lawrence And Anna Faris ‘Are Friendly’

It was only a matter of time before the tabloids created a relationship between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt while they were filming the 2016 science fiction adventure, Passengers. In fact, Pratt’s then-wife, Anna Faris claimed that her publicist had previously informed her of the likelihood of a media uproar. According to Faris in her memoir, Unqualified:

“I’d always taken pride in our relationship, and the coverage, even though it was just false rumors, was making me feel insecure. Jennifer [Lawrence] and I really are friendly, and she was apologetic even though she didn’t need to be because she hadn’t done anything wrong,”

Faris further added:

“She’s awesome, but of course, it’s hurtful and also embarrassing when people are saying your husband is cheating on you, even if it’s patently untrue. You still feel, and look, like a fool.”

When Faris and Pratt announced their divorce, Lawrence unsurprisingly faced new criticism. However, the American Hustle actress refuted the rumors once again in a conversation with KIIS FM. 

Faris and Pratt are no longer a couple, and have moved on with their respective new partners, while Lawrence is currently married to Cooke Maroney.
