As it’s most famous daughter, Rihanna has done much to raise the profile of her sunny Caribbean home.

And now the singer has been given an official role, shooting a campaign as the Face Of Barbados.

The 24-year-old was photographed shooting her first campaign for the three-year role on an idyllic beach yesterday. 

While she usually loves any excuse to slip into a bikini, she opted for a more demure look for the campaign and frolicked in the surf fully dressed in a white frock.

She also wore a billowing yellow gown as she struck a sultry pose for the camera.

Her new role will go some way to cheering up the singer, after she was dropped as the face of Nivea this week for being ‘too sexy’.

Her ‘sexiness’ obviously isn’t a problem for her home country.

‘Rihanna has signed a three-year contract with the Barbados Tourist Authority (BTA) to promote the island,’ the Barbados Free Press reported.

‘According to BTA chairman Adrian Elcock, production on the promotional campaign is expected to begin soon and will be launched in September, in time for the winter tourist season.’

The beauty has already done much to raise her country’s profile overseas, and often returns to enjoy vacations on the isle with her family.

On today’s trip she was accompanied by five of her devoted fans, paying for their airfare as a thankyou for their support.

The singer paid for them to stay at the exclusive Sandy Lane hotel and then invited them over to her house for dinner.

A source told Sky News: ‘She wanted to show them how grateful she was. She figured the best thank you was to cook them tea in her hometown.’

Rihanna recently took Oprah Winfrey on a tour of the Caribbean island.

She gave the popular talk show host a private tour of her native island when she visited her for a special in-depth interview for an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter.

Rihanna teased fans on twitter by posting a picture of the pair in her car along with the caption: ‘Look who popped up in my hometown Barbados…Top notch.’

Oprah admitted to being pleasantly surprised by the ‘refreshing’ superstar and announced that the special episode of ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ will air in America later this month.

The TV presenter tweeted: ‘What a refreshing surprise she is!… Rihanna interview is August 19th. Didn’t want to compete with Olympics! But worth the wait. She brought it!’
