It’s hard to believe Tiger Woods’ Sunday pitch-in and resultant explosive fist pump at The Memorial was 12 years ago.
Alas, if we know one thing here at WITB Time Machine it’s that time waits for no man — nor Tiger.
The flop shot hole-out at the par-3 16th pulled the then-14-time major champion level with Rory Sabbatini for the tournament.
Woods would go on to card a final-round 67 and secure a two-stroke victory over Sabbatini and Andres Romero.
“Every shot was exactly the shape, the trajectory, the distance control,” Woods said of his final round.
“I had it all today, shape off tees, whatever club I wanted to hit, I could hit. That was fun to have it when I needed it.”
The win was Woods’ 73rd, which fittingly tied tournament host Jack Nicklaus’ PGA Tour total.
