Preventing sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey raises suspicions that King Charles shielded him post-honorary knighthood

Kevin Spacey implied that he received support from King Charles III, though maybe not directly, after his sexual abuse scandal blew up.

The former “House of Cards” star told Piers Morgan on Tuesday about his relationship with Charles, 75, who knighted Spacey the year before the actor’s fall from grace in Hollywood.

Morgan, 59, asked Spacey if Charles reached out to him when the sexual assault allegations broke in 2017, and Spacey said, “No, I haven’t heard from him directly, no.

“But through other people?” Morgan asked.

“That may be true,” Spacey said.

Morgan pressed Spacey, 64, on if the British monarch sent him a message at the height of the scandal.

“I heard a message, yes, and I’m very, very grateful for that,” Spacey responded.

“A message of support?” Morgan asked, which Spacey confirmed.

When Morgan asked Spacey if the message “meant a lot” to him, the “American Beauty” actor replied, “Yeah, but look, I don’t want to drag him into all this.”

Spacey revealed that he wrote Charles a letter but hasn’t sent it to him.

In June 2016, Spacey was presented with an honorary knighthood by then-Prince Charles. The following year, the actor was banished from Hollywood after allegations of sexual assault were leveled against him as the #MeToo movement started to take shape.

Spacey was accused of committing sex offenses against four men between 2004 and 2013 while he was serving as artistic director at London’s historic Old Vic Theatre. He was charged with nine separate counts — including sexual assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The Oscar winner was deemed innocent in July 2023 and acquitted of all nine charges. He also won a sexual abuse case against alleged victim and fellow actor Anthony Rapp in 2022.

In addition to speaking about King Charles on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Spacey addressed his alleged connections to Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell, who have both been linked to the late multimillionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In 2020, a photo emerged from 2002 of Spacey and Maxwell, 62, sitting alongside each other in the throne room at Buckingham Palace after they were allegedly invited there by Andrew, 64.

However, Spacey claimed in the interview that the reason he went to Buckingham Palace was because he was invited by Bill Clinton after he accompanied the former president on an eight-day humanitarian trip to Africa.

“We were wandering through, and people brought us into the throne room, and I sat down, and a bunch of people came and sat down next to me, and a bunch of pictures were taken,” said Spacey. “Then, we went up and we met Prince Andrew. I had never met him before and have not seen him since, so that’s the context. Then, the President and I went up to Blackpool.”

Spacey said that he had no connection to Epstein either: “I didn’t know him. I have never spent any time with him. I was with the Clinton Foundation people, that’s who I was with.”

The “Baby Driver” star added: “This Maxwell woman, she was one of many people to sit down next to me in that throne room. I have no relationship with her. I had no relationship with him. I mean he’s not my friend. I am not a confidant. I’ve never spent time with him. And interestingly, I will say this. I was very fortunate that President Clinton introduced me to a lot of business leaders in London, because he knew I was coming to the Old Vic … Do you know who I never asked for anything was Jeffrey Epstein? I didn’t want to be around this guy because I felt he put the president at risk on that trip to South Africa, because there were these young girls. We were like, ‘Who is this guy?’”

Spacey confirmed to Morgan that there were “young girls” on Epstein’s flights.

“That’s been out, they’ve talked about it,” the actor said. “But here’s my point. There’s a big difference between not remembering that I met some guy and some woman on a humanitarian trip where my focus was entirely on what we were there to do and not remembering whether I went to somebody’s island.

“So, I never went to Jeffrey Epstein’s island. I did not know him and I never saw him or her after that morning at Buckingham Palace. He didn’t even come to Buckingham Palace, she was only there.”

Epstein was ruled to have hanged himself in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 shortly after being arrested for sex trafficking. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of recruiting and grooming young women to be sexually assaulted by Epstein.

Andrew was stripped of all his royal titles by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, in 2022 after his association with Epstein was revealed.

On “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Spacey denied that Andrew reached out to him about the Buckingham Palace trip. “I heard a report about that, but at no time did anyone ever contact me on his behalf,” he said. “As I say, I’m not friends with him, I never saw him after that day.”

Spacey also refused to discuss Andrew’s sexual abuse scandal, saying, “I don’t know anything about it. I’m not going to talk about someone else’s scandal. My point is, that I had enough accusations of my own to deal with, I don’t need to inherit someone else’s.”

But Spacey did talk to Morgan all about his own scandal, including how Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, supported him in and out of the courtroom.

“What’s most interesting about the fact that they testified in the trial in the UK was that I didn’t ask them … They insisted on it,” Spacey said. “That’s the kind of friends that I have been very fortunate to have in my life.”
