Charlie will accompany his father as a match assistant, helping Tiger with every aspect of the game from assisting with shot execution to providing tactical advice.
Tiger shared: “Having Charlie with me is very special. I trust my son completely. No one knows me better than Charlie because he has seen me play countless times.”
15-year-old golfer Charlie Axel Woods has affirmed his talent in the golf world by competing with his father in many major tournaments.
Recently, Tiger and his son Charlie competed at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club for the 2023 PNC Championship.
The father-son duo’s best result came in 2021, when they finished second behind John Daly and his son John Daly II.
At the 2024 U.S. Open, Charlie will be equipped with a match assistant card, allowing him to be present and side by side with his father on the course.
Despite failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship last month, Tiger is still confident as his fitness gradually recovers from the injury sustained in a car accident in February 2021. In his return with his “special assistant”, Tiger believes he can conquer the championship this week.
This year’s U.S. Open takes place at Pinehurst No.2, where Tiger finished third in 1999 and runner-up in 2005. To prepare for the difficult greens on the course, Tiger has spent a lot of time practicing putting at home. However, he admits that cannot be compared to the reality of the competition.

Besides Tiger Woods, this year’s tournament also brings together top golfers such as Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, … promising to be an attractive and dramatic tournament.
