After hearing that Kate had to undergo surgery and her father was about to be admitted to hospital,
Harry and Meghan are said to have sent messages wishing them a speedy recovery.
A source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the Mirror that “King Charles III and the Princess of Wales have received good wishes from Harry and Meghan”.
The source also confirmed that the California-based couple have “used a variety of methods to communicate their concerns and best wishes to both sides”.
The news broke just days after Kate underwent abdominal surgery, which Kensington Palace said was pre-scheduled.
“The surgery was successful and she is expected to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery,”
the palace announced on Instagram last week.
Meanwhile, Kate’s father-in-law, King Charles III, is expected to undergo minor surgery this week to treat an enlarged prostate.
According to the Telegraph, Harry first learned of his father’s illness through the media. A Buckingham Palace source said they had informed all senior members of the royal family, including Harry – who stepped down in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, with Meghan. However, the message was reportedly sent to Spare after the announcement was made public.
King Charles III’s prostate enlargement has been confirmed to be “benign”. A palace spokesman added: “He will be admitted to hospital next week for a minor operation.”
As for the Princess of Wales, she will not be able to return to official duties until after Easter this year (March 31). Although she is recuperating, the mother of three hopes to maintain as normal a life as possible for her children. Kate is said to be working via computer from her hospital bed.
