British actress and activist Emma Watson is the epitome of grace and class. 

Even in her early days of acting in the Harry Potter films, fans were impressed with her level of maturity in her demeanor at such a young age. 

But despite her professional public persona, the actress also has a humorous and excitable side. For example, the time she nearly lost it during an interview.

Fans are still talking about the video as not only did Watson show another facet of her charming personality, but it was so incredibly awkward that the moment was hard to forget. 

While it wouldn’t be the first time Watson had a less-than-normal interview, as we will see later, it was undoubtedly one of the most uncomfortable interviews she has ever done.

Why Couldn’t Emma Watson Stop Laughing During An Interview?

Celebrities usually do press junkets whenever they have a new project out. While most of the interviews go along smoothly, some do not. Case in point: Emma Watson’s interview.

The actress was promoting the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1, in which she famously played the titled character’s friend, Hermione Granger.

The interview started pleasantly enough, with the host asking Emma how she first learned about the Harry Potter books. Watson responded that, like most people who were familiar with the novels by J.K. Rowling, she read them as a child. The actress elaborated that her dad read her the books before bed, so she was already a massive fan of the series before she was in the films.

Emma Watson then revealed that initially no one was not allowed to tell anyone that they were cast in the film; this was a challenge for her, as she was anxious for everyone to know at her school that she had gotten the highly coveted role.

Halfway through the interview, Emma burst into laughter after the host mentioned that she had been filming the Harry Potter films for practically a decade. Watson’s laugh was so contagious others in the room began to laugh with her. She then apologized to the interviewer and explained that someone had just said something to her that made her laugh.

After Emma got her composure, she answered several questions related to the film, such as if she was friends with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, who played Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in the movie. Watson confirmed that she was close with Radcliffe and Grint and that they often spoke on the phone.

However, she has since admitted in subsequent interviews that she’s even closer with co-star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter. Emma even relayed that she had a crush on Felton during filming, but that they were now just close friends.

Emma then broke out into laughter again before she asked the interviewer to repeat his question. When he did, Watson added that it would be weird for her to meet Daniel and Rupert outside of filming but that she was excited to see where their friendship would go after Harry Potter ended.

Toward the end of the interview, Emma Watson prompted the interviewer to ask more questions as she felt she had ruined it by laughing.

What Happened When Emma Watson Was Embarrassed During An Interview?

That’s not the only awkwardly charming interview Emma Watson has participated in.

During an interview segment for ITV’s daytime talk show Lorraine, Emma Watson was asked to discuss her film The Colony, which was about a young woman who recuses her boyfriend after he was taken prisoner during a military coup in Chile.

Emma is known for her staunch stance on feminism and has done many things to promote women’s causes. So when she was asked by the interviewer what she most liked about her role in The Colony, Watson answered that in most films, it’s the woman who is a damsel in distress, and in The Colony, it’s the man who needed saving and the woman who was the hero.

While Emma Watson spoke about the research she had done for the film in Chile and how beautiful yet tragic the country was, her ringtone suddenly went off. The song accompanying it was “Show Some Respect” by Tina Turner.

Emma quickly grabbed her phone off the table and muted the call as the host applauded her for her excellent taste in music. Emma smiled and laughed graciously before apologizing for the interruption but joked that she hoped she would be forgiven, given that the song was by the legendary Turner.
