Harrison Ford humorously admits that it was thanks to DI**RHEA that he was able to create ‘the most classic scene’ in Indiana Jones

‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark’ is one of the most beloved movies for fans of the series, not only because of it being the first,

but also because of Steven Spielberg’s genius care and detail. In fact, the legendary director surprised at the time

by declaring that the one he likes the least was ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’, considering it “too dark”,

and it was a surprise because almost unanimously it is ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ the one that is the most maligned.

With more than forty years behind him, Harrison Ford’s debut in the role of the famous adventurer left a good handful of anecdotes,

but one of the most curious ones comes from remembering the most iconic and remembered scenes of the film and the entire franchise.

You don’t have to wait long into the movie to enjoy the scene in question. After a chase, Indy finds himself face to face with one of the bandits, who begins a threatening duel brandishing his sword and doing all kinds of tricks with it. Far from feeling intimidated, our protagonist simply pulls out his pistol and shoots him, needing only one bullet to kill him. Except originally, the had planned for the scene to feature a complex fight between the two in which Indy would use his whip as a weapon, but an unforeseen situation arose.

Spielberg improvised due to Harrison Ford’s illness

This unforeseen event took the form of severe dysentery that affected Ford, which caused him constant vomiting and diarrhea, so he was not able to keep rolling for long periods of time. Someone suggested that Indy “just shoot the guy”, and Spielberg decided to make a 180-degree turn and finish it as soon as possible so that the actor could rest and get better for the rest of the filming.
