Scottish residents protested en masse against Tiger Woods building a golf course on their land (video)

What happens when Tiger Woods comes to your place and starts his own venture? Everyone must be very excited to welcome it.

However, this is not the case every time. Even though Tiger Woods is long absent from the green links, his association with golf has been going strong.

He is developing his son’s golfing abilities while also creating golf courses like PopStroke and his own tech-driven league, TGL. One can say Woods is very busy, just like before.

To add another venture to his golfing life, Woods and his popstar business partner, Justin Timberlake, have opened up a golf-themed sports bar, T Square Social, in Manhattan.

And now Woods is planning to expand it to that location, where he has twenty-eight years of legacy. But things went a bit wrong this time.

When Woods first arrived in St. Andrews, Scotland, in 1995, he had no idea that he would one day lift two Claret Jugs there.

However, Woods won the Open Championship there in 2000 and 2005.

Last year, when Woods appeared on the St. Andrews for the Opens, he reflected on how this would be his last major here. “I’ve been coming here since 1995. I think the next one comes around in, what, 2030? I don’t know if I will be physically able to play by then. So to me, it felt like this might have been my last British Open here at St Andrews.”

Woods is now opening a second T Square Social in St. Andrews to honor his 28-year legacy. The plan is to open the bar at the New House Theater, according to a report by The Times. For the concept and designs that would appeal to golfers of all ages, they are even collaborating with Nexus Luxury Collection and 8AM Golf.

However, the forthcoming addition in St. Andrews has the locals dissatisfied. They saw the conversion of the theater into a bar as being somewhat “disrespectful” and “a bit cheeky.” St. Andrews Cinema is one of those cinemas that is independent. Losing an age-old touch on it is something that disappointed many.

Neil Dobson, a member of the St. Andrews community council, said, ‘‘This town has been very good to Tiger Woods, and this is not the way to repay residents.” Residents are definitely not in celebratory mode. But how did the administration of the cinema react to the newest addition?

To welcome Woods and his ideas is one of the happy moments for the New House Theater. Contrary to the locals’ emotions, the cinema’s governing body is eager to embrace the changes T Square Social will bring. They are thrilled to have new clients and a fresh environment.

”The directors look forward to supporting T-Squared Social with their development plans and to welcoming new and existing customers into the New Picture House on completion of the re-development works,” said David Morris, the cinema’s managing director.

Woods definitely didn’t realize that he would bear the brunt of the locals. But losing one of their monuments to his high-end bar is something that will keep stinging the residents’ hearts.
