The divorce proceedings between Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren took a drastic turn, with child custody becoming the main point of contention.
A a settlement of $700 million was never an issue between the couple. But the primary custody of their children, Sam and Charlie became a bone of contention between Tiger and Elin. “Elin now wants full custody of the children because she would prefer they have limited time with Tiger,” a source told People. “Tiger will be generous about a settlement, and in the end will not balk about paying in the neighborhood of $700 million. But he wants joint custody.”
Nordegren during the proceedings of divorce wanted a full custody of their children, with limited time for Tiger. She was adamant on becoming the primary decision-maker of children’s life. During her tough times, she wanted to stay away from all the chaos and spend more time in Sweden. Her plan was to educate her children there, away from Tiger and his lifestyle.
Tiger being at fault was mostly okay with all the financial settlements and demands of Elin, but could not bare the brunt of losing his children. He wanted a combined custody with Nordegren. But eventually the two settled their contention and agreed to co-parent their children understanding the importance of each parent in their lives.
Woods has never shied away from accepting his mistakes, may it be on social media or in his personal sphere. After being exposed, and through a terrifying separation from Elin Nordegren. Woods wanted to come clean in front of his kids, he wanted to be the person to break the truth to them. He did not want them to know from any outside source.
According to an article by bleacherreport, in an interview with the Time Magzine. Tiger said to his kids, “Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes.” He believed that he was the one who owed an explanation and apology to his children. Tiger might have been wrong at several occasions but has never failed to own up to his actions. He even told Lorne, “I was to blame, and so I’m taking initiative with the kids.”
Woods has tried to be an idol father, even though, they don’t live under the same roof. He has ensured to fulfill all of his responsibilities as a father. Truly, co-parenting has even led to the betterment of his relationship with Elin.
