It was a battle of the hemlines tonight as leading stars from the opposites sides of the Atlantic stepped onto the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards.
British actress Emma Watson, 21, looked immaculate in a short white Marchesa dress with an embellished neckline as she arrived at the Los Angeles event.
But the Harry Potter star, who blew kisses as she posed for photos, had some hot competition in the form of American singer and former Disney star Selena Gomez.
The brunette beauty, 18, also opted for a leg-revealing outfit – a short white and beige skirt teamed with a patterned top.
Of course Selena’s star is on the up and up at the moment, as she and boyfriend Justin Bieber, 17, being one of the hottest Hollywood couples.
Other stars at the event included models turned actresses Brooklyn Decker and British talent Rosie Huntington-Whitely.
Last night Rosie was out with boyfriend Jason Statham at the Spare Room bar at the Roosevelt Hotel, where a source told MailOnline she partied until 1am.
However, the Victoria’s Secret model showed no signs of being tired as she stepped onto the red carpet in a racy leopard print dress.
Inside the awards show, the stage was decked out like an enchanted garden topped with a crystal collage.
Stars of some of last year’s biggest blockbusters and this summer’s most anticipated movies gathered for the event.
Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis is hosting the two-hour film fete, in which fans vote for their favourite movies in quirky categories such as best kiss, best fight and best jaw-dropping moment.
The ceremony will be held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, and broadcast live Sunday night on MTV.
The show has become as much a promotional platform for the Hollywood studios as awards ceremony, this year promising sneak peeks at the latest Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn; the final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2; and the action-packed Super 8 presented by the films’ stars.
The awards will also introduce Sudeikis to millions of viewers just as he’s making his largest splash on the big screen.
He stars in the upcoming summer comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, out in September, and plays a supporting role in the star-filled Horrible Bosses, out in July.
