The country music legend who has also found major success as an actor is set to star in “Happy’s Place,”
the story about a woman who inherits her father’s restaurant and unpleasantly discovers she has a half-sister in the process.
The comedy pilot was ordered by the network in January, according to Variety, and now additional episodes have been ordered to create a full show.
There will be some recognizable faces in the cast for viewers both young and not-so-young.
Starring alongside McEntire as her newly-discovered sibling is Belissa Escobedo, who starred in “Hocus Pocus 2,” as well as, according to IMDB,
veteran character actor Rex Linn, McEntire’s boyfriend, who worked with McEntire in “The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw,”
Pablo Castelblanco who starred alongside Hilary Swank in the short-lived series “Alaska Daily,” and McEntire’s co-star from her first TV series, “Reba,” Melissa Peterman.
McEntire did have another sitcom — “Malibu Country” — following the end of “Reba,” but it only lasted one season. And there just may be a secret weapon behind the scenes in Kevin Abbott. Variety reports the writer and producer had a hand in “Malibu Country,” however, previous projects he’s written and produced in the past have become TV royalty including “The Golden Girls” and “Rosanne.”
