Anne Hathaway, 31, surprised everyone at a party in New York with her love of tequila.

The Oscar winner (“Les Misérables”) was a guest at the closing party of “The Maids” at the Sydney Theatre last Saturday [August 16] with her husband Adam Shulman, 33, 

where they really let it rip. “Anne and Adam danced the night away together,” an eyewitness told “Page Six.”

“Another party guest brought Anne a shot of tequila, which she – to everyone’s surprise – downed.”

Cate Blanchett (45, “Blue Jasmine”) played a leading role in “The Maids” 

and brought her good friend Naomi Watts (45, “Diana”) and her partner Liev Schreiber (46, “Salt”) to the party.

Her famous colleagues could have been a reason for Anne’s craving for tequila: The New Yorker recently revealed that she is quite shy. This almost proved to be her downfall when she was supposed to interview Kate Winslet (38, “Times of Upheaval”) for the “Total Film” magazine and didn’t dare to ask her about her favorite breakfast. Eggs Benedict was the answer when Anne finally overcame her fear.

The doe-eyed beauty doesn’t have to be shy in her next film project, as she is treading on familiar ground: the comedy “The Intern” is about a fashion website that hires an older intern (played by Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro). We’ll see to what extent there are parallels to “The Devil Wears Prada”, with which Anne Hathaway played her way into the hearts of film fans in 2006 alongside Meryl Streep (65, “The Iron Lady”).
