Due to Meghan being inimical to many celebrities, she has faced numerous rejections while promoting her podcast

The Duchess of Sussex’s recent falling out with high-profile figures could jeopardise her future podcast success, a showbiz expert claims

Meghan Markle’s disputes with A-list celebrities could harm her podcast success, warned a celebrity expert. She signed with Lemonada Media in February after ending her Spotify deal abruptly.

A celebrity PR specialist believes social networking is of high value in Hollywood, and Meghan needs to be careful about future relationships.

Kayley Cornelius, speaking on behalf of Betfred, exclusively told Express.co.uk:

“Clique culture is highly prominent among Hollywood celebrities, where social networks and associations can significantly influence one’s career trajectory.

Being part of a well-regarded group can open doors to coveted roles, high-profile collaborations, and media attention.

“Relationships in Hollywood can often extend beyond personal connections to professional alliances, where who you know can be as critical as talent and hard work in determining success.”

The celebrity expert explained recent public spats could be detrimental to her future work.

She explained: “With this in mind, there’s no doubt that Meghan’s recent public falling outs with high-profile celebrities such as the Beckhams and George Clooney will have a knock-on effect. It may deter others from working with the Duchess due to concerns about how it could impact their own reputations.”

David and Victoria Beckham had long been friendly with Prince Harry and the rest of the royals, but over the last few years their relationship with the Sussexes seems to have soured.

In his new book House of Beckham, royal author Tom Bower said Meghan was “irritated” that Posh Spice was wealthier than her and that the two had “little in common” when they first met.

A-list celebrities such as singer Mariah Carey and Bollywood actor, Deepika Padukone were guests on Meghan’s Archetypes podcast.

Kayley said the Duchess’s latest podcast would need something new and different in order to succeed.

Kayley explained: “For Meghan Markle’s new podcast to see more success than Archetypes, she and her team are going to have to bring something seriously fresh to the table.

“Archetypes was a podcast tailored to a niche audience and lacked a solid marketing strategy to keep listeners engaged and returning weekly, so the fact that it never fully took off was inevitable.

“The success of Meghan’s new podcast will depend on a variety of factors such as the marketing, guests, and topics discussed.”

Meghan’s podcasting deal with Spotify was cut short after just 12 instalments. Hours after the end of the deal was announced, Bill Simmons – Spotify’s head of podcast innovation – blasted the couple and branded them “f****** grifters”.

Meghan and Harry released less than 13 hours of content during their three-year deal with Spotify, but the new deal struck with Lemonada was thought to be part of a new era for the couple as they continue launching new business ventures.

A statement on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s website, sussex.com, in February read: “I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting.”

Speaking at the time of the reveal, Meghan said: “Being able to support a female-founded company with a roster of thought-provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024.

“Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works.

“I’m so eager to be able to share it soon, and am overjoyed to be joining the Lemonada family.”
