Meghan Markle once opened up about packing her belongings from Frogmore Cottage, just before she vacated the property.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry vacated Frogmore Cottage nearly a year ago but there was one poignant moment months before their eviction which really stood out for the Duchess of Sussex.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were gifted the lease for the royal cottage in Windsor by the late Queen Elizabeth II for their wedding in 2018.
But they didn’t stay long in the Grade II listed home as they both quit their Royal Family duties and moved to the US in 2020.
The couple settled in their new home in Montecito, California, but still kept their Windsor home until early 2023, despite their ongoing feud and bombshell revelations about the royals.
Harry and Meghan both visited the UK twice in 2022- the last year that Meghan returned to the country – to attend Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and months later for her funeral.
But it was the duke’s controversial memoir, Spare, which was released in January 2023 which prompted King Charles to subsequently evict them from the cottage, with the duo officially moving out of the property in June 2023.
However, during one of their trips in 2022, Meghan opened up about her feelings and memories in the cottage while packing up stuff to bring to America.
She told The Cut at the time: “You go back and you open drawers and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh’. This is what I was writing in my journal there?”
Harry and Meghan moved out the last of their belongings from Frogmore Cottage on June 29, 2023.
Courtier Sir Michael Stevens said at the time: “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage.”
