The Warriors have won five of their last six games, with three of those victories by 20 plus points.

Golden State was 19-24 before the recent hot stretch.

Perkins had been critical of Kerr, previously saying the NBA coach was being “exposed” during their struggles and calling out his lack of disincline toward Draymond Green for his physical blowups with other opponents.

The ESPN basketball analyst appeared on NBA Today and was given the task of answering the question, “Are [the] Warriors moving in the right direction?”

And Perkins handed out an admission about Kerr and his coaching.

“I have to apologize to Steve Kerr because I’ve been very critical of him,” he said on NBA Today.

While Perkins stood by his past comments on the four-time NBA champion coach, saying the criticism was “warranted”, the analyst admitted, “I overdid it a little bit.”

He continued, “When I look at the Golden State Warriors, are they moving in the right direction? Yes. In the championship direction? No.”

“As far as their youth movement, hell yeah. There was a point in time where we sat up here and said ‘What do these young guys have to offer?’”

“Like we were wondering like, ‘What Kuminga is gonna be in the league?’”

The Warriors still sit with an underwhelming 24-25 record, but have seen contributions with their young core of Gui Santos, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Kuminga.

Perkins mentioned the latter player Kuminga, the team’s 2021 first-round pick forward who’s scored 20 plus points in six of their last 10 games.

Golden State is still led by superstar Stephen Curry but the team has relied less on Klay Thompson and Green.

They have the 11th seed in the Western Conference and have a tough home contest with the 31-21 Phoenix Suns on Saturday night.
